OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL [election is over?]
New York Post ^ | 09/15/08 | AMIR TAHERI

Posted on 09/15/2008 2:03:51 AM PDT by Enchante

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

" The accusation enough is damaging, even now if theres a retraction tried, theres still an enormous amount of people that wont believe him, Obama’s dangerous background quite frankly is enough to convince me he did this."

If anything, this will cause people to 2nd guess him and take a closer look.

Sarah Palin: has shot moose.
Barack Obama: has eaten mousse.

Barack Obama: empty calories.

It doesn’t matter if he engages in denial. What this will do is again put him on the defensive for a news cycle or two. Death by a million cuts. Of course, this cut could very well turn out to be a chainsaw slash. :-)

If McCain’s team doesn’t run ads on this, somebody should.

Normally I agree with you; but surprisingly enough, Huffington Post and Spiegal are carrying the story. That is like a nod to the left. Looks like the DNC is going to have a shake up from within.

I know there were accusations that Reagan tried to influence the election by getting the Iranians to hold on to the hostages (as if the Iranians weren’t intent on humiliating Carter), and even claims that George H. W. Bush had flown to Paris for a secret meeting for this purpose, but I don’t recall if any of these claims were made before the election in November 1980.

I didn’t hear any of it until after they released the hostages.

I may be wrong, but my recollection is that the Democrats did not latch onto the October Surprise claim about the hostages until H.W. was running for President in ‘88.

This is huge (and serious)

I pray this is "The September Suprise".

And that Obama/Biden fail to recover from the fallout before
the first Tuesday in November.

I know there were accusations that Reagan tried to influence the election by getting the Iranians to hold on to the hostages (as if the Iranians weren’t intent on humiliating Carter),

Accusations are one thing,,,,and they are totally worthless unless sourced--just ask Gov. Palin. Those are no more credible that phony rumors. No one ever cited a source for the Iranian case,,,

THIS ONE HAS A SOURCE!!!

HUGE DIFFERENCE.

This is huge. Unfortunately MSM will soft-peddle it IF they actually get to it.

How long before the MSM come out with “Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, a close friend of G.W. Bush, Carl Rove, John McCain and Ms. Palin, said today blah blah blah................”.
