Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Saturday, September 27, 2008 Contact: Jessica Robinson, 573-751-0290 Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

If Obama and his ilk had their way, Republicans would be required to wear muzzles an red stars, and have identification numbers tattooed on our forearms.

Are those prosecutors and sheriffs under that governor’s direct authority, that he can just fire them? They could be elected positions.

I've got just the thing for doing exactly that... I think this design should also cover anyone with a violation charge as the question mark (although barely visible) makes the statement into a question. Liberals however, will probably in a knee-jerk reaction, completely fail to see it...

Please note, the SINGLE bumper sticker below which is sold at my site has NOT been marked up by me (I make no money off of it), and it will remain at cost for the next 7 days (until 10/3/08 at midnight) if there are those here (especially Missourians) that wish to exercise their rights, and spread the news about this.

For clarification: it is ONLY the Single Bumper sticker that is at cost (3.49). The other items featuring this design have been marked up according to my regular pricing. I don't want to mislead anyone...

OK, I guess that covers it. Here is the design, and a link where to get it: (the image is clear when printed, not blurry)

Ok, and so how many times on this forum have I said “I love my Governor!!”. Several. I’ve also said many times that I look forward to him being President some day, until an acquaintance of his family said he is done with politics, not interested in the nastiness of it all. All the more reason for him to be President if it weren’t for the nasty MSM and corrupt Congress. Oh well, it’s a sign of what our world is coming to.

Totally 100% agree.

I am heartened by Governor Blunt’s words.

But these people care nothing about WORDS.

It is ACTIONS alone which will stop this nightmare - if it can be stopped.

It is nothing less than Police State Gestapo tactics and has no place whatsoever in this nation.

He should have ended with “anyone taking action to quell a citizen’s first amendments rights will be financial liable for their actions ON THEIR OWN. The Government of the State of Missouri will NOT defend or represent you in any way shape or form.

PS I have my pad of pardons standing by. Try it.

The response from 0bama will be along the lines of “It’s all a bunch of vicious lies, and if you repeat them, we will make sure you are prosecuted!”

These are ELECTED OFFICIALS. They can’t be fired by Blunt! I’m sure he would love to have that ability right now. The Attorney General is an Obama-worshipping boot-licker and is real tight with McCullough and Joyce. The state judiciary is dominated by Democrats. Only real hope for swift action lies with Catherine Hanaway, the U.S Attorney for Eastern Missouri.

Firing is one thing, especially if it was an elected position. That should require some form of impeachment. Suspension is different. Usually the governor is in charge of all law enforcement in the state, even if the prosecutors and sheriffs are elected. Perhaps Missouri has a different provision, but it would surprise me. One expects that the governor can tell any other official that he is suspended pending the outcome of an investigation. Since the governor didn’t say that, maybe he can’t.

It’s not just communism; its totalitarianism, which anyone that knows anything about Obama would expect anyway, after all he is a street agitator.

"How about prosecuting these clowns, or at least getting an investigation going? It sounds like what they're attempting is a violation of federal civil rights laws."

Right, perfectly nice statement by the Govenor but I would have thought he would have annouced an investigation and promise to see these scumbags prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if it was shown (as one would assume) they are using the power of their offices to intimidate and silence critics right to free speech.

Unlikely that Obama’s goon squad would single out one state. It’s probably being rolled out in all battleground states.

Is New Mexico next? Of course, the dems have already taken over the election process, so maybe they don't need the intimidation factor here.

1. Take control of the media (Check)
2. Challenge political opponents right to speak (Check).
3. Portray Capitalism as evil and a failure (Check).
4. Take their Guns (working on it)
4. Destroy political opposition through intimidation, coercion and force (working on it)

Result. The United Socialist States of the Republic.

You all do realize that the only way this will stop is by armed rebellion? They will not give up nor will the courts help; I don’t enjoy typing those words but I don’t see any other alternative down the road.
