An evangelist and Middle East expert believes a substantial number of Jewish voters in the U.S. will vote for John McCain because they are deeply concerned about a Barack Obama presidency.
Tom Doyle serves as the Middle East director for the strategic church-planting ministry e3 Partners, and recently released his new book Two Nations Under God: Why You Should Care About Israel. Not only does Doyle believe the people of Israel are nervous about a possible Barack Obama presidency, he believes a growing number of Jewish voters in the America feel the same.
GOP and Democratic logos"Jews who live in America have traditionally voted Democrat. They see themselves as oppressed, and so they seem to liken with similar groups in the country -- and they vote Democrat," he explains.
But the evangelist argues that tendency started to change in 2004 -- and he thinks it will change "big time" in November.
"I think there's a real nervousness [among American Jews]. Is [it] significant enough to change the outcome of the election? I don't know," he admits. "But I think we're going to see more Jews voting for John McCain this time, just because of the 'antsy-ness' they have with Barack Obama."
e3 Partners has offices in Plano, Texas, and in San Diego. Established in 1987, the ministry lays claim to having helped plant more than 12,000 churches around the world.
Got a good friend at work, Jewish, and I always quiz him on why he is so adamantly anti-Republican.
He rails on and on about how Republican Christians have secret plans to force Jews and everybody into internment camps and force them to convert to Christianity.
It would be out-loud laughable if it weren't so sad. He really believes this stuff.
I have no reason to doubt him.
Well put.
No one "tells" anyone how to vote. That is a straw dog argument if I ever heard one.
In American politics, people (regardless of their faith) try to persuade others to vote based on logic and statistics and other factors.
No one is forcing anyone to do anything.
I explain to my Jewish friends all the time that a growing percentage of Democrats (especially the militant black liberation/ youth vote) are increasingly anti-faith and anti Israel, and that conservatives are the ones who truly support Jews and the Jewish tradition.
Does that mean I am forcing Jews to vote this way or that?
Certainly not.

Maybe Farrahkhan will open the Jewish community’s eyes this weekend (Oct. 19) with his “New Beginnings” celebration. Obama *cannot* separate himself from his past.
Apparently, Obama doesn't either because he has been running commercials on cable TV in the NYC Tri-State area during prime time, and I don't think he would be doing that unless he thinks he is in trouble with New York Jews (and union hard hats).
Yes, he has already called Obama the Messiah.
A correction on my other post - we *cannot* let Obama separate himself from his true self and beliefs (not just his past).
Nontheless, he will get their votes.
Then read it in context. It wasn’t offensive at all in context.
Why must you use such disparaging remarks?
If it wasn’t for the “fundies,” the Republicans would never win anywhere.
Better to alienate tens of millions of conservatives to appease a few million Jewish liberals?
Jews have never been historically conservative in this country. In fact, they’ve been to the far-left of the political spectrum for the most part.
Jews like all other Americans vote on what they think is best for them and seldom abandon their traditional voting. But for the small percentage for whom the safety of Israel is important, it’s McCain all the way. This is why more older people are switching because they understand what an existential threat is. Obama can’t talk to Ahmadinejad at the same time he leaves open the air space for an Israeli attack, and meanwhile production of nukes goes on. For those who haven’t seen this, this is the view from Israel.

It's easy to understand why he is wrong.
Academia never views the left as capable of such vicious crimes against humanity. The more likely scenario is they will have supported the party that destroys them. Jesse Jackson revealed an underlying resentment that will influence policy.
Various groups on the left will very happily support the end of rights they find offensive, such as free speech. They will think it completely appropriate to criminalize any opposition to their views, for example investigations of all decision making involving the WOT. They will see it as "fairness" to take someone else's property to give to another and when all the opposition is gone it will be their turn.
However, in this election, they do not like Obama, but they are still reluctant to pull the lever for McCain yet.
Your link does not work. ‘This page cannot be found. . .
Well, speaking as a Jew, and a lifelong (proud) New Yorker, I do trust my co-religionists here to vote with their prejudices, and not their brains or their wallets.
Sorry, absent minded.

Great..
Something else I gotta worry about..I am a Jew, lifelong PJ O’Rourke style-Republican and now, I have to worry some idiot thought I voted for Nobama? My own family is running something like this.
Mom: Not voting for Nobama, for the first time, she may vote GOP and pull the lever for McCain.
Gramps: Well, Nobama reminds him of a certain Austrian housepainter. Not going to drink that cool-aid.
Wife: She flirted with the idea of voting for Nobama, till she heard about Bill Ayres...
My in-laws: All going for McCain. And they’re Brooklyn Jews.
Then there’s my Dad. God love him, but he and his family are all in the tank for the Nobamasseiah. Then again, he converted to Catholicism. ;-)
