Obama enters October with $133.6 million in hand

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama spent $87.5 million last month and began October with nearly $134 million in the bank.

The numbers illustrate his vast financial advantage over John McCain, his Republican rival, in the final stretch of the contest. McCain ended September with $47 million in the bank.

Obama, who raised a record-shattering $150 million in September, filed his campaign finance report with the Federal Election Commission overnight. The numbers became available on the FEC Web site Tuesday morning.

McCain is accepting public financing and cannot raise money. He is limited to $84 million for the two months before Election Day.

That helps close the gap, but Democrats still hold a considerable $37 million advantage.

Moreover, Obama's $5 million-a-day fundraising rate has likely continued in October and will widen the financial gap between the two sides.

By having the bulk of the money within his campaign, Obama also retains far more control over how it is spent.

RNC has enough to match it, if they feel generous.
Obama is definitely out spending McCain...a lot, and has cheerleaders on TV and in print everyday saying how great he is.
Amazing he’s not up 20 points.

He better watch his budget. The Uber-Bitch has some pretty expensive Iranian Caviar & lobster-nosh tastes. At $700 a clip, he could run into trouble.

$220million of which may have come from illegal sources.

You can spend all you want. No one likes the message. Also, Obama saturation has taken over. This will backfire. However, continue to waste Liberal’s money...no problem with that!

Well, at least Michelle will still be able to afford her lunch time treats such as lobster and champagne.

He has spent a bazillion dollars in this campaign. His cronies in the media kiss his azz 24/7 and he still has the support of less than half the people in this country and WE are supposed to be worried?

“continue to waste Liberal’s money”

I bet a good chunk of that is from under $200 donations, multiple donations, by foreign credit cards. Could check with Visa and MasterCard and match country codes to donations.

It would have been interesting to see McCain tie this in with the corrupt Chicago politics theme, but he never developed that theme. Has no theme at all. And still recovering from that go to Washington stunt which was stupid, then he had no criticism, no way to distinguish himself on the bailout.

The playing field is not level, and the refs have been bribed. Yet McCain is still in the game...

That should be the new underground buzz. Instead of marveling at how much cash he’s raised, ask why he hasn’t cinched the nomination?

...I wish I knew a better place to send it other than the RNC. Too much money in the past has been wasted on the likes of Lincoln Chaffee for my taste. I really wish Jesse Helms Congressional Club or the Citizens for the Republic were still in operation. Paul Laxalt could have taken CFR and run with it, in my opinion.

After this is over, Zero will have spent close to a billion dollars chasing the presidency. You’d think the “middle class” would wonder what he has in store if he needs to spend so much.
