I've been Slug Slimed. What do I do?

24 hours ago I picked up a cooler that was on my porch. A garden slug was on it. He attached himself to my middle finger on my left hand. I shook him off and washed my hands. Apparently I failed to wash adequately enough.

Now I have a ugly festeing blister on my finger. I google searched for answers. Didn't find any help. But I know my FReeper FRiends will come through with all sorts of solutions and answers. Some may even be helpful. (But I doubt it)

I have no idea, but getting past the gag reflex to actually lick one would be the first sign of a problem to me.

As I look at the pics in those links, no... I can’t say my finger looks like that.

Not really a rash at all. Just very dark red and slightly swollen.

It sounds like a paronychia. Soak in warm water and soap several times per day. If persists, or redness begins moving toward the top joint in the finger, see a doctor. The doc may need to open up a small area of skin to drain it, and then put you on an antibiotic.

Oh, well then either follow Petronski's advice or do what I do and sandblast the area for approx. 4 minutes followed by a good scrubbing with a wire brush.

I lived down in southeast Texas for a long time. ...didn't see any slugs there. I did see leeches in SE Texas, though. ...and some kind of green caterpillars that only have a few splines/hairs on their backs (and cause slightly painful stings).

Ummmm, how do I say this...

Step 1. Get it excited (you don't have to tell us how).

Step 2. Use tweezers for removal.

Step 3. Smoke a cigarette and take a nice nap.

It’s painful. We see it fairly often where I work.

Warm soaks can help, but if it fills with pus and doesn’t open on it’s own, it needs to be drained. Our docs are now culturing the pus, since there is so much MRSA around, and Keflex is no longer effective with MRSA.

make a paste of baking soda and water and put it on the affected area for 1 half hour if by some chance it was a leach use peroxide only to clean the area and use hydro cortisone on the area till healed

I was stung on my foot by a wasp the summer before last, ended up with cellulitis and was on antibiotics for four weeks. It seems this kind of thing is more common than one might think.
