Obama On Low Taxes: “Selfishness”
hotair.com ^ | October 31, 2008 | Ed Morrissey

Barack Obama gave John McCain another pre-Election Day gift this morning in remarks made to a Sarasota, Florida audience. After telling Joe the Plumber in Ohio that he wants government to “spread the wealth,” Obama told Floridians that opposition to such policies amounted to “selfishness”:

“The point is, though, that — and it’s not just charity, it’s not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class — it’s that when we actually make sure that everybody’s got a shot – when young people can all go to college, when everybody’s got decent health care, when everybody’s got a little more money at the end of the month – then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off. All boats rise. That’s what happened in the 1990s, that’s what we need to restore. And that’s what I’m gonna do as president of the United States of America.

“John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic,” Obama continued. “You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness.”

Listen, you thieving socialist SOB, my wife and I paid $55,000 in Federal taxes alone last year. That's probably enough to keep one of your useless supporters in malt liquor, Section 8 housing and cigarettes for the entire year. So, who's the selfish one, you jackass- those of us who are already paying a grossly disproportionate share of taxes in this country, or your supporters who pay little, if anything into the treasury, and still have their lazy hands out demanding "More! More!"

"All boats rise. That’s what happened in the 1990s,"

You Obama-assclown! I was paying amost 8% on my 30 year fixed mortgate in the 1990s. I now pay only 6%. Under Bush I was able to refi to 6% and saved some $80K on the life of my mortgage. And back then I only made about 1/3 of what I make today and the income tax rates were higher so my take home pay per dollar was less.

Stay away from my wallet you frikin' radical Marxist. If you want to bring people up the latter then take a stick to them and beat the lazy mules until they get out of bed and head for a J-O-B!

BIDEN IS SELFISH!

$2,500,000 earnings.
$0,003,600 given to charity.

That’s just over .1%

LIberals are so generous with my money, not their own.

I went through a Rand phase when I was in my 20s, so I can honestly tell you that I've read most of her books. I know that she practically claimed to be an Aristotle scholar. But in her books, there is very little evidence to support that claim.

I will, however, give her credit for introducing me to metaphysics, Aristotle, and even Aquinas.

For anyone who's interested in Aristotle or Aquinas' synthesis of Aristotelianism and Christian theology, I cannot recommend highly enough this little website.

It's the most concise and powerful introduction to Aristotelian/Scholastic thinking that I've found. It certainly helped me to clarify my own thinking.

“when young people can all go to college///”

Which is when the advantages of going to college disappear, because there would be no differentiation. College - if it has not already - would become the new high school.

America - in particular liberals - need to face the fact that not every individual is college material. It’s incontrovertible that there are innate differences in intelligence, inbred differences in work ethic, and vast differences (inbred) of motivation.

You hit the nail on its head. Obama is not a “grown man” in the traditional sense in America. He has never held a real job in the private sector where he was accountable for a bottom line of productivity. The lecturer slot at UC Law and the apprenticeship at the middling Chicago law firm don’t count. He is the definition of a narcissist. Coupled with his lack of critical thinking abilities, he is dangerous.

I studied philosophy in college too, and went through an Objectivist phase in my late teens and 20s, as seems a common experience for many. The interesting thing about Rand's work for me is that as time goes by, I see increasing evidence that she was fundamentally right about the nature of man and the economic principles that must obtain for a society to be successful and free. Thanks for the website link. I've added it to the list of places I'd like to go for a while to escape the sturm und drang of politics.

Dude, I feel for you. My wife and I paid > $111,000 last year, and we’re selfish? We give substantial amounts to our church, the VFW, a local mission, Easter Seals, and so forth. My wife works 60-80 hours a week, I am gone from home 12 hours daily. But, we’re not “working Americans” according to Barack Obama. Sure, we do well, but we got there the old fashioned way, with no handouts and, unlike the Obamas, no Affirmative Action.

My contempt and hatred for Barack Obama grow by the minute.

A couple of centuries ago they used to pass out two dollars for a persons vote but today all you have to do is promise to give them money for their vote. So how much is the promise? I understand it’s $1000 and it’s someone else’s money that is promised and people are going wild for it. It really makes me sick and disgusted to think that people really believe that if Obama is elected that they will not have to pay for their school loans, home mortgage, or credit card balance and will get money on top of that. This is what I am hearing people saying. It really is beyond me how gullible a lot of people are and how rumors can elect a President of The United States.

Not being a tax-mad socialist is being selfish. Expecting to keep what YOU MAKE is being selfish. Not feeding a massive welfare state that empowers give-away socialists, is SELFISH.”

So I’m selfish when I don’t want my money to fund Obama’s government paid abortions?

Now I’m supposed to make sure everyone has new cars and computers for their kids? When do I get a new car? When does my kid get a computer?

Wouldn’t it be better to give poor kids school vouchers so they can really get ahead?

This is the only thing I'm emphasizing tomorrow morning in the morning ping. We're selfish?

I just happened to start a ‘Hut Sweet Hut’ file this morning:

But we're selfish? Clinton tried to call Virginia taxpayers selfish, and it bacckfired horribly. With Obama, it's going to be three times worse. This will draw political blood. Idiot. What a Halloween treat!
