Coal provides 50 percent of the electricity in America. It directly employs 81, 278 very hard working Americans. By its nature, it supports a large portion of the United States economy. And just for the record West Virginians (the country's number 2 coal producing state), Governor Manchin, Senators Rockefeller and Byrd, and Representatives Rahall and Mollohan all endorsed the Presidential candidate that will devastate an industry and our state.

26 coal producing states, 52 Major Coal Mining Companies, 81,278 Coal Miners

1. Wyoming 2 West Virginia 3 Kentucky 4 Pennsylvania 5 Montana 6 Texas 7 Colorado 8 Indiana 9 Illinois 10 North Dakota 11 Virginia 12 New Mexico 13 Utah 14 Ohio 15 Alabama 16 Arizona 17 Mississippi 18 Louisiana 19 Tennessee 20 Maryland 21 Oklahoma 22 Alaska 23 Kansas 24 Missouri 25 Arkansas 26 Washington

Don’t ya just love it when they talk about what a “disaster” Reagan and Bush caused for the Economy. And then they have this stuff waiting in the wings that is going to cause everyone’s utility bills to skyrocket. So they will have to tax the rich even more to compensate. All Cap-And-Trade is is another way to transfer wealth to Third World nations while allowing bureaucrats the UN & traders on Wall Street to get rich. China will benefit too—which is likely a backdoor payback to them for financing our debt.

And, when people complain about the cost, BHO will tell them to stop being selfish and do their patriotic duty.

IIRC, PA's not-a-right-to-work state. Are there non-union mines somehow, or just no new mines being opened?

Mostly non union. I believe Consol Energy's mines are non union. But most of our power plant coal comes in from WV or Kentucky.

Sometimes I wonder if McCain isn’t losing on purpose just to teach Pres. Bush a lesson.

President Bush leaves the White house Jan 20th no matter what McCain does or doesn't do.
He'll entered the job as a millionaire, and he'll exit as a millionaire.

What lesson do you believe McCain has to teach President Bush?

...requires fairly well educated miners.

I can see how that would be a problem for the union.

For the industry, too, since a well-educated person could more easily find safer, less arduous jobs. Well, the days when unions were far more help than hindrance are long gone. Miners voting in lockstep with the union won't be doing themselves any favors if they keep living in the past.

When informed that raising capital gains would actually reduce the amount of money the Government takes in in taxes, Obama did not reverse his course, he just said that raising taxes was more fair.

Obama is not trying to bankrupt the coal industry, he wants to bankrupt the country. And it was his Acorn that pulled it off with the support of the Democratic Congress. This is about Marxism, not Socialism.

My Grandma, how big your teeth are!

Why little Red Riding Hood, all the better to eat you with!

Just sent the link to the United Mine Workers with the following note:

Hey guys,

An audio tape has been unearthed with Obama on record stating he intends to bankrupt the coal industry.

Talk about voting against your economic interests!

Look, you have unfortunately been duped by Obama and those who propagandize for him. There is no bigger friend of the coal industry than Republicans.

Its not too late to change your minds, but time is of the essence - within hours. There is nothing wrong with changing your position when new evidence surfaces.

Once the coal-haters get a lock on political power under Obama, that will be the historical mark of the rapid decline of the coal industry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdi4onAQBWQ

Take time to send it to media, Drudge, or somebody!

You're both right.

Hanna548 -Conservatives will demand McCain use some sensible measures in his treatment of the coal industry (and hope he listens.)

Visualops - Sarah will be a balancing force for those of us who beleive that "Eutopia" is only a liberal dream!

He’s more than an academic. He has raised about $500 million in campaign funds, and I think of a lot of it is illegally from foreigners and foreign governments, mostly enemies of the United States. All that money didn’t come from poor black folks, that’s for sure. His goal is to destroy freedom, destroy capitalism, shred the Constitution, and establish a socialist dictatorship.
