Every June, I become sad on the day of Summer solstice. From there on to December, the sun sets earlier and the days shorter. Last nights election was the summer solstice for Barack Obama and the liberals.
The election of Obama was indeed a positive for the United States in that a person of color is our new president. However, in doing so working for this break through, more hopes and dreams have been hung upon this young man than Ive seen since at least JFK. In doing so, there is no way for him to have more successes than failures. There is no way for all his followers to get what they expect.
The Democrat party is a collection of very vocal and opinionated limited interest groups. They are all still euphoric from last night. The day after, their expectations begin to be added to Obamas order book. For example, racial minorities will expect favors larger than their percentage of the population. The anti-war crowd will expect immediate reduction in our forces globally and domestically. Those for wide open abortion rights will expect the first order of business to be a signature on the Freedom of Choice Act. The legal community will expect tort reform put aside and court appointments that follow social, not legal, tests. To my daughter (age 22) who elected Obama with her peers, will you be patient while you wait for your political needs to be met? You are of a generation of instant feed back and response. How can you all be served individually when in the end, majority rules?
Our global neighbors will have their own list of needs to be filled. But when a tsunami or an earth quake hits, perhaps an invasion from the Russians who will come to your defense or aid when our interest is faced inward on our own economic and cultural socialistic issues?
The past track record of these special interest groups is one of intolerance for the time it takes to have their needs filled. What will they do when too much time passes or never comes at all?
Yes, I do see change today. But I see change for Obama. It is the not that the sun is shining and a day of celebration as he and his supporters may think. He is awakening to a new day that will only get shorter and shorter from here, making his time to affect the changes promised less and less. Rhetorically, as with me in June, this is a sad day for all who elected Obama.
Get used to it.
Good Lord! We should have a freerepublic2 just for vanities.
Very insightful. Very nice.
I think most of us who have been to this dance many times realizes a few things.
1. The left eats itself, and they do it in record time, and in record numbers.
2. 0bama’s mouth has written a whole bunch of checks that his azz can’t cash.
It’ll be up to folks like us to call those the NSF’s that they are, and send ‘em in to collection.
I say that Obama keeps his fundraising operations going — so that he can fund all of his initiatives, and leave the rest of us alone.
Why not? He’s got enough kook-aid drinkers. I can see it now: “Please donate $500 a year, so you can get your $300 tax rebate”.
Well written and thoughtful, I would be willing to contribue to FR2 as I do to FR1.
Nice job!
I’ve been thinking pretty much the same all day.
He gave a nice speech - I honestly think it will be the highlight of his term because it is all downhill from here, he now has to deliver on all his lies.
So do I, and for the same reason.
