"Yes We Can . . . Ban Guns"--Obama Announces Gun Ban Agenda Before The Final Vote Count Is In
National Rifle Association ^ | November 07, 2008 | NRA-ILA

Posted on 11/09/2008 2:44:27 AM PST by Perseverando

Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign slogan, "the audacity of hope," should have instead been "the audacity of deceit." After months of telling the American people that he supports the Second Amendment, and only hours after being declared the president-elect, the Obama transition team website announced an agenda taken straight from the anti-gun lobby--four initiatives designed to ban guns and drive law-abiding firearm manufacturers and dealers out of business:

"Making the expired federal assault weapons ban permanent." Perhaps no other firearm issue has been more dishonestly portrayed by gun prohibitionists. Notwithstanding their predictions that the ban's expiration in 2004 would bring about the end of civilization, for the last four years the nation's murder rate has been lower than anytime since the mid-1960s. Studies for Congress, the Congressional Research Service, the National Institute of Justice, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found no evidence that gun prohibition or gun control reduces crime. Guns that were affected by the ban are used in only a tiny fraction of violent crime-about 35 times as many people are murdered without any sort of firearm (knives, bare hands, etc.), as with "assault weapons." Obama says that "assault weapons" are machine guns that "belong on foreign battlefields," but that is a lie; the guns are only semi-automatic, and they are not used by a military force anywhere on the planet.

"Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment." The amendment--endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police--prohibits the release of federal firearm tracing information to anyone other than a law enforcement agency conducting a bona fide criminal investigation. Anti-gun activists oppose the restriction, because it prevents them from obtaining tracing information and using it in frivolous lawsuits against law-abiding firearm manufacturers. Their lawsuits seek to obtain huge financial judgments . . .

If the Big O was successful into banning all gun ownership and his Gestapo force has untold amounts of money to reward those that turn in their neighbors I kid you not there will be an unbelievable amount of extremists that have watched TV shows about using ordinary items available in junk yards, kitchens, backyards and every hardware store in the US and with all these resources plus returning vets that have seen IED’s it will be a rout, Hollywood writers could not create a script to compare to the vast resources a ticked off American can come up with.

Many of us have a skill, and that skill can be innocently adapted.

With shows like CSI many of us know of the methods used by investigators to find the guilty.

The Big O would have to completely shut down all shows even vaguely hinting of subversive practices, even innocent shows.

And then the stores would be subjected about selling articles that can be used as materials, stores across the country will require “papers” when you shop if you buy bleach.

America will lose its freedom in a lot of areas, why? All because there will be a president elect that wants “change” and the change will be of the ideology of supporting his beliefs or the beliefs of those that have planned for the destruction of America.

And they are doing it, right now.

"...why isn’t the NRA and the Republican party out there running commericals or are we waiting until after his Royal Highness Coronation?"

The Republicans are licking their wounds. The NRA has been (and is) running ads. The problem is that many media venues will not run their advertising.

It’s true that “unpapered” guns are preferred to those on a 4473 form, but recall that this only `registers’ the gun at the point of initial retail sale.

There’s not a federal law I know of that requires you to notify the authorities when you have sold, transferred, or otherwise disposed of the firearm listed on that 4473.

“In order to have a registration law, there must also be a deregistration law”

If they come to your house, you can say,

“I sold it for cash”

“I threw it into the lake/river/ocean just to keep you from getting your hands on it”

If they search your house and come up empty-handed, what is your crime (unless martial law is in effect)?

Private sales (between two non-FFL individuals) devoid of any paperwork are still legal in most states.

I live in one: Texas.

This, coincidentally, has a complementary effect, if you live in such a state. The Obamaniacs come around and ask for the AR, you claim you sold it to a private buyer a few weeks before the ban went into effect. Unless you’re really unlucky and are one of the first people they went to (unlikely) you will have gotten enough warning to hide your weapons where the Obamaniacs won’t find them.

Of course, if they’re going door to door, it may then be time to begin to consider USING the rifles once they leave your premises.

Some states now require all firearm sales to go through an FFL, just FYI.

If you live in such a state, move immediately.

...Obama’s goons will just show up at my door one day asking me to hand over the AR-15....

There will be no asking.

Here's how these things work. Informers. These will be your O-ba-ma co-workers who heard you say something about guns, hunting, the Constitution, or just plain don't like you. They have a quiet word with the O-Political officer at your place of employment.

Next, At dawn your neighborhood is surrounded by squads of police with dogs, maybe ATF agents.

Then they shoot your dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, etc. You and your family and any neighborhood "friends" will be dragged from your homes. Trussed and forced to kneel while your home is dismantled because you have obviously hidden things in the wall, under floorboards, etc.

You and your weeping family will remain on display during the whole ordeal, as the prototypical "enemy of the People". Rabble rousers will incite the mob for some street justice. Followed by bbq and re-distribution of your goods.

If you survive the "street justice" you will be billed for all expenses incurred. And this is the good version. Usually it's just Molotov cocktails at night.

Another clever one that someone else thought of:

After getting the word and hiding your guns, cast several thousand pound concrete blivets in your front or back yard. When they come by, point them to the blivets and inform them that the weapons they seek are probably in them. Watch the fun - most ATF search teams will not be equipped with cranes or 5 ton trucks.

Gun control is actually people control.

I started the process of acquiring my Tennessee carry permit Saturday; I completed the course work and shooting 48 rounds at various distances. Now here is the question - Do I want Komrad Obama to know that I have a gun and allowed to carry it? In tenessee the carry permit is included in the data base the cops access during traffic stops. I have not purchased a firearm since the era of the instant background check except two rifles through the curio and relic law.

In which case, they already “know” you have multiple guns, so you might as well get the permit.

I have read some more comments and suggest that y’all abandon this confiscation idea. Confiscation will require a costitutional amendment, just like an amendment was needed to end savery. All he can do now is ban new firearms of certain kinds; it explains the current rush on gun stores. If the Republicans do not block this law, they are no better than their Democratnik counteparts. Educate yourself; look up “ex post facto.”

Heh, heh, I don’t have to move, because I’m already here!

In mostly gun friendly South Carolina. Y’all come!

Heck’s fire, we REPEALED our stupid one-handgun-a-month law!

Save money - go life.

I hear you, but we just don't have the money to spend in a lump-- last time I checked, it was $200, but that's long since history.

Obama is going to drive all businesses out of business. Coal mines, and therefore steel mills, Coal fired electric plants, guns stores and gun manufacturers.

Helluva way to stimulate the economy so far.

In order for the ATF to make a data base of firearm owners, they would have to visit every retailer in the US and copy every transaction made since 1968. Unless you believe in conspiracies, ATF has not done this. Tennesse does not have a registration law. A carry permit holder is not required to own a firearm in Tennessee and the firearm is not registered. A Tennessee permit holder could borrow a handgun. If you have purhased a firearm from a retailer with an instant background check; it is possible for ATF to easily break the law and create a database from new purchases. BTW, a curio and relic purchase is made without an instant background check. If ATF wants to look for owners of obsoletebolt bolt action rifles, they are wasting manpower. Now that I have read my own comment, I think I'll finish the process.

If you click through the NRA site to the Obama site, the material the NRA references has been scrubbed. Can anyone find it on the Google Archive?

I just wonder how they would word the new ban. IMO, the 1994 ban was a complete joke, aside from the ban on high capacity magazines.

Under the old ban, you could still buy the weapons, they just couldn't have more than one of the following characteristics: Detachable magazine, Flash suppressor, Folding or collapsible stock, and a bayonet(I could be leaving out a few).

The law was so stupid, if not just ignorant. They were basically writing the law to change what the guns looked like. None of the above characteristics functionally change the weapons with regard to usability. If anything, the 1994 ban increased the performance of AR15s. Instead of a flash suppressor, you would have a muzzle break, which helps steady the weapon while rapidly firing. Instead of having a shaky folding or collapsible stock, you had a sturdy long stock, which helps accuracy. With regard to the bayonet, who cares, but I would MUCH rather be stabbed than shot.

Anyone that might be looking into quickly buying an AR before the ban may want to look into some of these:

Stripped AR-15 Lower Receiver

Buying one of those is legally the same as buying the entire weapon, because it holds the all important serial number(you still have to do paperwork on it). They are far less expensive than buying a whole gun, and would allow one to focus on other things like ammo and high capacity mags.

The Obots want to reinstate an “assult weapons” ban because these firearms belong on a foreign battlefield and not on America’s sreets? Well, I’d like to know just what military force in the world has used Mini-14s or Remington 7400s on ANY battlefield ANYWHERE on the planet!

In the mid 1770’s the British set out to raise our taxes and disarm the settlers. British troops had ready looted a couple of armories and were headed for the one in MASS. if memory serves me correct they were stopped by the shot heard around the world on their way at Concord or Lexington Green.

Please any freepers that know the tale please post it here. It is time for all of us to understand what we are faced with here. O is a Marxist/Communist.

Rich is code word for harding working individuals and poor is code for those on the dole.

The choice is now freedom or slavery.
