Guns are 'flying off the shelf'
Las Vegas Review-Journal ^ | 14 nov 08

It's been a week and a half since Barack Obama was elected president. He won't take office for another two months. But he's already got one big group of Americans on their feet.

What is Barack Obama's position on the right to bear arms? Sen. Obama's campaign Web site says he "respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms." It promises he will "protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport and use guns."

Seeking to reassure gun owners, Mr. Obama told a campaign audience in Ohio in October: "I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won't take your handgun away."

But the crowds mobbing America's gun stores this week say a large number of Americans -- including first-time gun buyers -- don't believe him.

In 2003, while serving in the Illinois Legislature, Mr. Obama voted in favor of a bill in the Judiciary Committee that would have made it illegal to "knowingly manufacture, deliver or possess" so-called "semi-automatic assault weapons," reports Chris Cox, chief lobbyist for the National Rifle Association. "Under this bill, a firearm did not actually have to be semi-automatic to be banned. According to definitions in the bill, all single-shot and double-barreled shotguns 28-gauge or larger, and many semi-automatic shotguns of the same size, would be banned as 'assault weapons.'

He’s not taking mine away, I may have to bury most of them somewhere for a while, but I’ll still have em.

When it's time to bury them, it's time to use them.

Obama won’t take your guns. He will have your neighbors do it for him.

Of course he won't - it's those nice gentlemen from the BATF who will do it. ;)

Hope that doesn’t get us investigated by the FBI. I would hope the rank and file of ATF agents would support gun rights, actually.

I didn't say "casualties," I said "attrition." They can take it as they will. More than likely, they'll quit rather than try. Going after one or two folks is easy, going after millions is a little more difficult.

I’m hoping the dealers have the records all stored in a container with incendiary devices and remote detonation.

and a tactical shotgun (yet to be determined, Winchester Defender perhaps?).

You can't go wrong with a Berretta or HK either. HK has some really nice new models out.

Gentlemen:

On Nov. 4, 2008 we witnessed a Communist takeover of the U.S. government.

If BO and his minions are installed in January, there will be a conflict.

I am not hopeful that the citizenship issue will prevent him from being sworn in, although I now believe that he does not qualify for the office according to the Constitution.

It is likely he registered at both Occidental and Columbia University as a foreign exchange student, and that he traveled to Pakistan under a foreign passport in his youth.

It may not be in January, or February, or March. But there will be a conflict. When some of the folks who voted for him, but lost their jobs due to the downturn he has made worse realize what he has done to US and Them,we may have some more supporters.

We could be witnessing the end of Capitalism as we have known it. But worse than that, unless this is checked, we could be witnessing the last Free Society (Free Republic).

It become clearer every day that the Left in the West, some portion of the Jewish population (who think they can make a deal with our enemies), the Communist East, and the Muzzies are aligning against the Christians in the West. They are coming after us, and a few guns will not stop this.

They are like cockroaches and cannot stand the light of day called the truth. They can exist only in societies where free discourse is not allowed.

‘They’ will consider unwarranted ‘searches’ more carefully when old farts like me start giving them the stuff [those things that go inside the items they want to ‘recover’] they’re looking for one at a time. (It’s cryptic, I know, but there’s so much traffic now, they have to search for certain words/phrases)

Stacked prepositional objects can go either way.

To disambiguate, should be placed on either side of the verb.

“For my own protection from the mobs, I bought one [from...].

Anyway, in order to reduce the recoil of my M44/7.62x54R, I have to order a better butt plate.

More than likely, they'll quit rather than try.

I've often wondered how many supposedly "pro-gun" policemen, federal agents, etc. are really pro-gun. How many of them will flat-out refuse to enforce gun or ammunition confiscation "laws"?

The point here really is that many of us got weary of this crap under Clinton and now (where is the photo of the guy smacking his forehead?) it is this crap all over again.

I wrote “didn’t” as “din’t” Sounds like a black girl. Earlier I saw a post where “trillion” was written “trillin”. Is this stuff contagious?

A lot of people are really mad, and it's hard to type well when you are this angry!

Mr. Obama told a campaign audience in Ohio in October: "I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won't take your handgun away."

He also said:“Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress’'.

He's real close to getting those votes.

You can relax, he won't take our guns away.

He'll just get the Congress to pass a $1000 tax on each box of ammunition. That'll do the trick. No 2nd Amendment problems.
