Quit It Kathleen (Parker Excoriates "GOD" Conservatives, Goldberg Blasts Back)

To my friend Kathleen Parker — This act is getting really old.

As Republicans sort out the reasons for their defeat, they likely will overlook or dismiss the gorilla in the pulpit.

Three little letters, great big problem: G-O-D.

I'm bathing in holy water as I type.

Kathleen Parker goes anti-religious-Conservative full-tilt. Still blasts Palin and supporters - blames dismal GOP future on religious Conservatives.

Well Parker needs to take some advice from Michael Steele, “If people want to be Democrats they can go be Democrats”.

So McCain is a holy-roller, and that’s why he lost?

Seems the RINOs were the ones who did the losing.

I’d rather have a conservatism without Kathleen Parker than one without God.

The Huckabee-nanny-state-sub-group IS a problem.

But the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY Conservative Christians are not of his socialist-from-the-pulpit ilk.

Shedding the Huckabee image is important.

I don’t know why NR still has her column on the website. Her column about McCain and Palin as Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky was vile.

And Goldberg hits the nail on the head - she needs to stop pretending she’s a martyr for writing deliberately controversial columns, which predictably get a response.

***PLEASE HIT NO VICHY REPUBLICAN PUNDITS***

NRO should rid itself of Katty Kathy Parker.

I think she simply enjoys the persecution and revels in being a “martyr.”

Maybe if we just ignore her she’ll go away.

curious that people talk this way when stats show that the problem with the republicans was not that obama brought out significantly more democrats but rather that McCain inspired significantly fewer republicans to vote.

McCain was the most liberal of republicans. the one most willing to agree with the liberal critics. McCain was the one most eager to please the atheists. They peed on him of course. While McCain discouraged the base from voting.

I think we should all chip in and get Kathleen a hooker. She'll have a new outlook on things afterwards.

People of the “right” religious mindset understand that the individual chooses to act morally or not, and if forced to by government, that isn’t helping people be any more moral,

any more than socialists confiscating wealth from people makes them more generous.

“...And the nonreligious won’t get religion through external conversion. It doesn’t work that way.”

Umm...actually Kathleen, yes it does work that way. Christianity is a rescue religion. Every Christian who has ever lived was, at some time in their life, a non-Christian.
You can be born to Christian parents, and be brought up in a Christian household, and be taught Christian doctrine until you can recite the Bible word for word, but none of that makes you a Christian.

Perhaps she is right about the US no longer being a Christian nation, when someone as intelligent as herself doesn’t understand basic Christian belief.

Dang...is she trying to be Maureen Dowd or what?? Talk about snarky! She’s embarrassing comparing the so called young and vibrant dem convention to the depends wearing GOP.
Good grief!! I guess you see what you want to see, parker.

Note: it’s an IMAGE issue, not substance.

The media portrays Republicans as Bible-thumping luddites.

There are SECULAR arguments (and even religious ones, where you take the moral lessons of the Bible and don’t reveals the inspiration) that work on the MORAL issues of the day.

It’s FRAMING THE ISSUE.

Avoiding having a Baptist preacher as a major face of the party is necessary.

... blames dismal GOP future on religious Conservatives.

With the exception of some Catholics who flopped to the Dims again as they did for Clinton, she is dissing the one group that DID show up this time.

I may be looking at this stuff in a skewed way but, according to the analysis, didn’t McCain lose because conservative and religious-oids stayed home? So those spouting a move to the left and tuning out moral issues really don’t have the party’s best interest in mind. And if conservative Repubs or whoever don’t stand up for morality, who will? I read that everyone on both sides of the political spectrum consider themselves “pro-family” - oh really? Take a look at the gay protests - for all the religious folk bashing that’s going on there, Parker and even Goldberg could well join the crowd!
