No, we need to eradicate the disease, not kill the patient. Nicely stated

It may have not been the largest amount of Americans killed in a single day, but it wasn't that long ago that a bunch of murderous thugs attacked us and murdered fellow Americans. And if these losers that were interviewed can't remember what day or year it was, then no wonder the Big O got elected. Shows how stupid many people are.

Antietam was a terrible day, but it wasnt done by terrorists. Well, you'd want to watch whom you say that to, in these parts, but that's a different issue :-). However, the agency of terrorists does not, in my opinion, make 9/11 the "biggest event in American history." I'd put the day penicillin hit the market higher on the scale.

Over the course of a week, it would have to be the Seven Days Absolutely ghastly. If I read "To the Gates of Richmond" again, I won't sleep well for a month.
What about the day(s) we dropped the atomic bombs, and saved the lives of perhaps a million American soldiers?

I agree that this shows a significant level of ignorance. However, as I said above, a historical perspective that begins yesterday is part of the same problem.

Oh I agree, that is why I made sure as my kids grew up, I made sure to teach them as mush history as possible. as the schools really do not go into it in detail.

This is why the Founding Fathers did not include everybody as having the right to vote in the beginning. They knew that a good many people just don’t have any real interest in the running of the country other than what they could get for themselves out of it. The franchise was originally limited to male landowners because they had a real stake in the country. They were the producers, and our Founding Fathers were wise enough to realize what would happen if the societal leeches had equal power as the producers, and there are always more leeches than producers. We thought we were more enlightened by giving the vote to everyone, but we were idiots, and now we’re paying the price.

If people don’t know history, they can fall for anything, without realizing that people have been falling for the same things for 5,000 years. Or believe that nobody’s ever been so miserable, having no idea that we’ve only had antibiotics since the 1940’s.

Voters should have to qualify beforehand by taking and passing a test on history and civics. Nothing too difficult, just a 50-question multiple choice on the basics that every 8th grader should know.
That should eliminate a goodly portion of the idiots.
"Discrimination!"
Well, yes. That's a good thing.

If we went back to that we could not be doing worse than we are today
When you own property it means you are rooted and have an interest in the affairs of your community
Democracies fail when "the people" figure out they can vote themselves the public treasury

"Theyre not harmless if they vote."
Good point. But none of them knew the year the 9/11 attacks happened. Do you honestly think any of them knew what year (let alone what day) they were supposed to vote?
To: randomhero97
“The scary part is these people are allowed to vote.”
Not only that, they reproduce with like kind.
To: LiberConservative
Yes, I think they knew when and where to vote, and I bet they did. These are exactly the type of people the “get out the vote” ACORN types target.
