Unbelievable - RINO Senator Mel Martinez responds to the Citizenship question
Email from Senator Martinez | 12/1/2008 | Jeffo

Posted on 12/01/2008 12:52:16 PM PST by jeffo

Well, I had written to Senator Martinez ("R"-Florida) about the citizenship issue before the election. Today I got this mind-boggling response:

========================

Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama's citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.

Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.

Article II of the Constitution provides that "no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." The Constitution, however, does not specify how that qualification for office is to be enforced. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect's birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.

The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg's suit and held that the question of Obama's citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.

Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama's birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.

After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation's President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office. Yet, I am certain that there will be times when I will disagree and oppose President Obama's policies. When that happens, you can be assured that I will pursue vigorously what I believe to be in the best interest of Florida and the nation.

I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.

Sincerely,

Mel Martinez United States Senator

=======================

OK, so the fact that he won the election makes him qualified. Amazing

Actually, it is not the voters but the Electoral College that are responsible for ensuring that the candidate they elect is qualified. But if they refuse we’re pretty much screwed.

The Senate has always been made up of criminals. Only they used to dress better and pursue a higher class of mistresses.

Martinez is a moron. Mel sounds like he wants to undo Marbury vs. Madison. Do the voters have exclusive authority to determine other constitutional issues as well? Does he think voters had the right to determine that segregation wasn’t an equal protection violation?

For me it is a confirmation that I didn’t make a mistake in stopping my contributions to the Republican party.

Great Lord Almighty! These people think we’re idiots!

Obviously, they're right. If there weren't so many idiots Mel Martinez and his ilk wouldn't be where they are. Ugh.

Ok, let me get this straight,,,first this brain donor says we must unpold the Constitution, and then later he says if the voters says it’s Ok that Zero is not a natural born citizen, then the Constitution CAN be violated? What an idiot. This is a Republican? AND he will support NoBama as a false president? OMG. The dolts in the gov’t have their heads so far up their asses they can’t see anymore. Constitution? They don’t need no stinking Constitution! They have the useful idiot voters to rely upon! We are so doomed.

The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.

That is a lie. The District court judge made no such 'note' in his written decision. In fact, he went as far to suggest that voters (you know, you and I...the serfs) were not qualified to decide or even ASK about such matters.
I don't think Martinez actually read the judge's decision.

“The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg’s suit and held that the question of Obama’s citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.”

But not issues like gay marriage or benefits to illegal immigrants.
If the RATS had to take a consistent position on issues their heads would explode.

By this same logic, Ms. Kelo of New London, CT, could have just refused to give up her home, and her act of keeping her home made the home hers?

The Constitution specifies the qualifications for President, not the voters.

We have people in Congress who don’t even understand the Constitution. With this mindset, anything becomes possible. Freedom of speech? Religion? Just a matter of the voters wishes says Mel.

It’s time to get rid of ALL of them - ALL of them. Even the few good ones will have to go, since they are in the evolutionary stage of becoming corrupt.

Term limits is the only way out of this.

Since he is not in my district, I cannot vote for him.

Would you please email Mr. Martinez back and ask him to IMMEDIATELY organize a vote to overturn Roe V Wade, since only voter opinion matters and all.

Thanks,

Mr. Vieira wonders who knows the truth about the birth certificate and might have blackmail in mind. I was just wondering the same thing, not from the point of view of blackmail but just potential leaks. Surely there must be a few outside the Obama family? Just like there may well be living people who know the truth about Vince Foster and have yet to be heard from.

WOW talk about political double speak. Guy tries to have it both ways.
F the courts. The Constitution is. It exists. Our Nation is based on it.
Hundreds of times the “people” have voted in a manner that the “courts” overturned as UNConstitutional.
If Obama falsely represented himself before the voters and they in turn voted for him, then his FRAUD invalidates the vote because NOTHING, let me repeat that, NOTHING is more important the our Constitution.
