Shakedown time nothing else
The perfect scam, the global warming hoax. Pay more in taxes to the government so government scientists can pretend to control the weather.
People will buy from out of state...........
People will buy from out of state...........””
Reno and Pahrump will have a grand time increasing their sales..
Not to worry. Many people are going to be canceling their cable service as time goes on. I’ve done my part to save energy—I put my electric carving knife away.
Based on some of the NOLA Katrina horror articles with pictures I've seen, the worst hit (poor) nearly always had a big screen in their poor little hovel. Maybe CA should think about the old adage, "minorities and poor hit hardest"......
Still, the government should stay out of this, its silly really.
There not taxing these TVs, they’re banning them.
There is an amazing graphic at the link that shows old CRT’s are the most efficient TVs! My company replaced all our CRT computer monitors with LCDs a few years ago because they were “green”. Once again the gobbermint is trying to sell us a bill of goods.
There's only an impact if they actually paid for the TV - or had to personally earn the money to buy the thing. If you're not spending your own hard-earned cash it's hard to understand the value of a dollar.
We’ll just proceed like England and charge everyone a tv tax. Annually.
Ping for your attention
Libs don’t just want your money - your money is just a means to an end.
They want CONTROL.
It was just a matter of (little) time before a luxury as popular as big flatscreen TVs brought the Eye of Sauron to bear.
TFT’s, which make up the vast majority of LCD tv’s sold today, already are energy efficient. Not sure what the point of this is.
Oh, intrusion!
They can tax my 52-inch, flat-screen television as soon as they remove the remote from my cold, dead hand...
You can sometimes get libs to admit that they despise American “consumerism”. It’s their “front” reason for hating SUVs, etc.
They really don’t like people enjoying their wealth, and will seek ways to prevent it from happening.
Just thinking about the following questions:
1) Energy consumption on (name a Hollywood liberal) home/pool/plane
2) How many hot tubs in CA?
3) Disneyland/etc?
Gads, it’s so very easy to make a (greater) fool of a public official.
LCDs tend to use much less power than a CRT.
You can calculate the difference in power usage by looking on the back, or in the manuals. You’re interested in the wattage each device uses.
Be sure to take the “active” state, not “standby”.
From memory, both my 27” CRT TV and my 60” LCD TV use about the same amount of power - 100W/hr.

BUT THE ARTICLE STATES:
LCD — liquid crystal display — sets use 43% more electricity, on average, than conventional tube TVs; larger models use proportionately more. Plasma TVs, which command a relatively small share of the market, need more than three times as much power as bulky, old-style sets.
