If you think I’m actually reading all of this you’re effin’ nuts! Where’s the punchline? PRO Global Bullshit or CON Global Bullshit?

We’re doomed. Yep, I got that memo I don’t know how many times before.

In an online debate, I had a left-wing idiot argue that carbon dioxide would make water toxic for drinking by animals. I asked him if he thought carbonated beverages were toxic and then told him the pressures and saturations required to carbonate water to that mild level of acidity. And what’s simply stunning about it all is that they call conservatives stupid and uneducated.

The global warming push is falling apart, so the lefties are scrounging for replacements.

Fig. 10 - This may look like a mess, but the biggest solution in the world is of course the ocean, and here's a bird's-eye view of the acid-base chemistry of seawater

Note especially that

the only really important pH on this graph is 8, the approximate pH of the natural ocean.
The pH of the ocean is controlled mainly by the carbonate system because it is more concentrated than the two minor buffering systems, borate and silicate.
The surface waters of the ocean are everywhere supersaturated in calcium bicarbonate and in CO2 , as shown by the dotted curves (the "ss[CO2 ]" label is the illegible one-- sorry!)
Ion-pair complexes such as MgOH+ are significant species in seawater; there are many others.

The alarmists are talking about minor increases of a weak acid, H2CO3, aka carbonic acid to a buffered system. IMHO, it's not a big deal.

The assumption here is that increasing atmospheric CO2 will cause more CO2 to be dissolved in the oceans, increasing the carbonic acid content and lowering PH. The cited articles then attempt to determine what will happen as a result.

The assumption is wrong, however; causation runs in the opposite direction. Increasing temperatures due to solar radiation cause more CO2 to come out of solution in the oceans, increasing atmospheric CO2 content. The increased CO2 in the air does not redissolve because higher ocean temperature reduces CO2 solubility.

Fizzy ocean water, mmmmm! I guess global warming is petering out, so they’ll have to come up with another imponderable world crisis.

Visualize a world full of vagrants next to signs that say “will model CO2 accumulation climate models for food”.

As the atmosphere's CO2 content continues to rise, the pH of the world's oceans is expected to decline
And yet, it hasn't. And the CO2 level has risen by perhaps 100 parts per million since 1850. Imagine that. And the oceans aren't warming at depth, another recent regurgitated claim by the global warming demagogues. Thanks neverdem.

...for all we currently know, elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations could well prove to be a net benefit to the marine biosphere, just as they are a huge blessing to earth's terrestrial lifeforms.

Well stated. Idso is a strong AGW skeptic, and my hat goes off to him and his co-authors.
