LUBBOCK, Texas: A hacked electronic highway sign in northern Texas carried a warning not seen much since the American Revolution.
On Friday, the sign briefly flashed: "OMG The British R coming. They R watching you."
KCBD-TV reported the electronic sign was in a construction area in southwest Lubbock.

LOL...........
The portables are there for the taking. Somehow they got into the permanent signs in Houston the other day and added the Zombies are coming message. Those signs are controlled from a centeral location I think.

This is hilarious and all, but I still like the old-school method. You know - putting a round, red, stick-on reflector on the deer crossing sign so it looks like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
It's fast, easy, and doesn't require any computer skills, and they usually don't bother to correct it, so your work stands.
(And I'm not saying I know anybody who's ever actually done this).

LOL!
The ‘hacking’ in these parts consists of a ‘no hunting’ sign peppered with buck shot. ;)

Yup. We’ve got some of those kinds of “hackers” around here, too. I think they’re the lazy ones, since you don’t even have to get out of the pickup truck to do that hack.

According to legend, "The British are coming!" was the warning shouted out by Paul Revere on his midnight ride in April 1775 to alert American patriots that British troops were moving out of Boston to arrest their leaders. The warnings delivered by Revere and other riders allowed the American militia to rally to repel the British in the first battles of the American Revolution.
The most amazing part of this story is it has to be explained to the British.

Up here, the kids keep covering up the “C” in the Canal Road signs!

I came by the sugar mill one day, here on Maui, where they have these big off road trucks hauling sugar cane to the mill and some one had altered the sign form Caution, Cane Hauling to
Caution Co-Cane Hauling. There were people stopped by the sign and family members were getting their picture taken with the sign.

Revere did not warn that "the British are coming". The colonists all would have considered themselves British. What Revere warned was that "the Regulars are coming out", meaning the "Regular Army".
It was their own existing government against which the colonists rebelled. Had the Revolution not succeeded, the leaders would have been hanged for treason.

Too funny.
The automated ones that are remotely controlled run windows. Apparently very hackable.
