Specter to GOP: Don't push Pelosi too far (Wimp Alert)
Politico ^ | Glenn Thrush

Posted on 02/09/2009 11:39:16 AM PST by rightinthemiddle

Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, one of three GOPers expected to cross the aisle on stimulus cloture, offers a Washington Post op-ed today in defense of the "Moderate's Bill" which cut about $100 billion from the House stimulus package.

His argument to Republicans: We've pushed Pelosi as far as she's willing to go -- and need to take this deal now.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the proposed cuts "do violence to what we are trying to do for the future," especially on education. Her objections are a warning to conservatives that more cuts would be unlikely to win House approval. They are also an admission of the high price that moderates have been able to extract for their support of stimulus legislation.

Talk about ‘Stuck on Stupid’. I still say Specter needs a brain transplant.

“Her objections are a warning to conservatives that more cuts would be unlikely to win House approval.”

Then by all means, cut away!

What's that song, I think from Oklahoma that says something about "as far as she could go."

Arlen Sepcter is just one more reason the GOP has to go.

No, why don't you go look for a clue.

The GOP House/Senate members are 98.6% unsupportive of Porkulus (216/219).

I doubt you could match that level of solidarity in your mythical new party (assuming that's what motivated your odious comment).

Even the Dems know that Pelosi is a jerk. (They let her do their dirty work because she doesn't mind being detested.) Since Pelosi isn't willing to bend at all, we should push back as hard as we can.

Oh golly, Arlen, worried Nancypants Pelosi will kick your big manly butt?

(eyes rolling)

I can’t ever recall a United States Senator in fear of any House member. Speaker or not.

Second thought...would Arlen be afraid to ‘push’ a GOP Speaker...oh, sorry, thats right he WASN’T.

Chekc them out!!!

http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/republicans_stimulus/2009/02/08/179583.html?s=al&promo_code=79C5-1

They look like the same kind of elitist limousine liberals are Chrissie Whitman, Nelson Rockefeller and Tom Kean.

They think they “know better” than the social inferiors who put them in office. Well, from the looks of their faces, they are long past retirement anyway.

I hope this comes back to haunt these three piranhas in the primaries. It WOULD be better to lose the seats to Democrats than have to deal with Judases and Benedict Arnolds like these three vultures.
