As an added bonus, section 801 in HR 45 states this law does not apply to any governmental authorities, including any agency or dept of the US or state etc. etc. Sounds like Obama has something up his sleeve.

Agreed.

We don’t sell assault type weapons.

But the average Zerobot wouldn’t know the difference between an assault weapon and a peashooter. They are all bad.

Didn’t the Mormons win the last time the government sent an army to Utah to deal with them?

Are you FOR the ban on sporting firearms???? The US Congress let it expire, by the way, in Sept 2004, by NOT RENEWING it.

I believe the administration back pedalled on this Friday. Holder jumped the gun by announcing this too early.

Write and call your senators and representatives.

If you haven't already, join the NRA/GOA

Buy your own AR-15 or AK

Resist.

My question is: Who let this ban expire?
No one. It expired by itself.
It had a built in Sunset Clause, that's the only way Klintoon could get it passed in '94.

** President Bush let it expire. **

Excuse me, but no.

The '94 AWB had a 10 year sunset provision and Congress would have had to renew it - which the senate did by passing theri version of a 'new' AWB.

But Tom Delay who was the Majority Leader then said no way in 'heck' would it be brought up in the House for a vote, so it died right there and Bush had nothing to do with it.

EXCEPT he did say, and on more than one occasion, he would sign a new AWB *if* it was brought to his desk.

Deputy wounded in accidental shooting
Coat hanger in car’s trunk catches trigger

February 28, 2009
By NICHOLAS P. ALAJAKIS nalajakis@scn1.com

WAUKEGAN — A Lake County sheriff’s deputy was airlifted to a hospital Friday morning after accidentally shooting herself in the County Building parking garage.

Karen Harris, 46, of Gurnee, a 22-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was recovering from surgery Friday afternoon at Advocate Lutheran Hospital in Park Ridge. She was in stable condition and was expected to make a full recovery, authorities said.

At 8 a.m. Friday, Harris was removing her service weapon from the trunk of her car on the third floor of the parking garage when the weapon fired, sending a single .40-caliber bullet through her right had and into her abdomen.

Waukegan police investigated the scene and determined that the handgun’s trigger was pulled by a hanger that was stuck in the trigger guard, said Waukegan police Cmdr. Wayne Walles.

“It’s an accident. It could absolutely happen to anyone,” Sheriff Mark Curran said. “We pray for her and we feel terrible for her.”

The accidental shooting is the first for a sheriff’s deputy in more than a dozen years, said Michael Blazincic, chief of administration for the sheriff’s office.

Following the shooting, Harris was taken first to Vista Medical Center East and later flown to Lutheran General. She was conscious and alert following surgery, police said.

The Waukegan Fire Department and other court security deputies responded to the scene almost immediately, said sheriff’s Sgt. Christopher Thompson.

There is no protocol on where deputies must keep their duty weapon, but some place them in their car trunk, Curran said.

Harris is the daughter of former Waukegan 5th Ward Ald. Frank Harris. Attempts to reach the family Friday were unsuccessful.

Attorney General Eric Holder is a malicious racist bigot who has already insulted his office. He has claimed the American people are "cowards" for not having a conversation on race - this after Americans of all ethnic groups voted in favor of Obama.

With his push to tear up the Second Amendment, it is clear that Eric Holder-the-bigot does not deserve high office in any administration of the United States.

From the article: “It’s an accident. It could absolutely happen to anyone,”

No, it can't. It won't happen to someone who stores their gun in the trunk in a proper holster which prevents objects from contacting the trigger. It will also not happen to someone who removes the round from the chamber if it is necessary to store the gun when the trigger cannot be adequately guarded.

***...assault-weapons ban***

It is worse than that. My latest issue of GUN WEEK (March 15,2009) has an article on how the State Department is considering restrictions on the import and export of military caliber guns and ammo, INCLUDING SPORTING AMMO and BOLT ACTION HUNTING RIFLES.

There is also the possibility that “..the Obama administration may be quietly preparing TO DEFINE what constitutes a so-called SNIPER RIFLE.”.....”The focus will be on barrel weight and diameter, caliber and even rifling twist.”

Three bolt action rifles in .308 cal have been prevented from being shipped to Australia.

No, I am totally against a ban on firearms.

Oh, that's right, Republicans were the majority in 2004. Republicans are all Rhino's but not gungrabbers, and we threw most of them out in 2006. In 2008 we almost rid our government of all Rhino's by voting for total socialist control of our government..

I know, it's still the Rhino's fault, and they deserved to be tossed out. Better socialist than a dirty Rhino.(s/
