Obama’s Friday order to Catholic hospitals: Shut up, commit abortions or I’ll shut you down
The Collins Report ^ | March 2, 2009 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

Posted on 03/02/2009 5:53:22 AM PST by jmaroneps37

The underhanded Obama administration has quietly moved to rescind the “conscience clause” found in agreements between the federal government and Catholic hospitals.

This “conscience clause” has always protected practitioners from being forced to commit abortions in violation of their consciences. Its removal means Catholic hospitals will be forced to choose between federal funds for committing abortions and closing down to maintain a clear conscience.

Phonies with egg on their faces

Nevertheless, phony “Catholic” judas goats like Douglas Kmiec are still beating their chests with pride at having delivered 52% of the Catholic vote to the abortion team last fall.

In January Kmiec smugly wrote “The scurrilous remarks of conservative bloggers missed the point, which was that I and millions of others who voted for Obama did so not despite our Catholic faith but because of it.”

As a proud “conservative blogger” I have to ask this vile man how voting for a monster who could allow miracle abortion surviving infants to die unattended on a cold steel table in a broom closet is Catholic faith.

Reminding us why print media is dying, two weeks ago Time’s Amy Sullivan instructed us “confused Catholics”, that FOCA does not even exist. Insisting it will not be considered, she gently explains FOCA is merely a myth imagined by our Bishops which will not be voted on in Congress so it can’t threaten the sanctity of life.

Perhaps Sullivan could discern a comforting difference between being sent to a “work camp” rather than a “concentration camp” but her logic escapes me.

The truth may be Obama doesn’t sign anything named FOCA, but whether it’s called FOCA or the Sunshine and Applesauce law, he’ll sign a law extorting Catholic hospitals into committing abortions thereby killing Catholic hospitals.

Obama’s sneaky order proves both of these phonies wrong.

I thought he said this issue was above his paygrade. He must’ve gotten a promotion. Godhead deity must pay well.

And to think that the hard left called LBJ a baby killer. Barack Hussein Obama has done more than just about any other single legislator to see to it that babies (even those who survive a botched abortion) are murdered.

I don't know if he is THE antichrist, but I believe he is A antichrist.

In one of Joel Rosenberg's end-times novels, he makes the point that if "no man knoweth the day or the hour" then Satan doesn't EITHER, and he always has to have an anti-christ warming up in the bullpen, as it were. Makes sense to me.

My brother-in-law -- the former Seminarian (attended St. Charles Borromeo, even!) -- voted for the Zero. He was convinced by arseholes like Kmeic that "social justice issues outweighed the abortion issue."

EVery single time something like this comes up, I make it a point to e-mail him and point out that he was duped, and ought to go to confession. He's stopped responding at this point, because he KNOWS he's an idiot. He hasn't disowned 0 yet -- but I'm hopeful he will see the error of his ways and pull his head out of his Democrat orifice.

They should all shut down.

When the carbon tax passes, utilities and companies should refuse to pay it.

It is time for Atlas to shrug.

There are a number of Catholic run hospitals in good old socialized medicine Canada. I am not sure of their status regarding abortion but they do operate so I assume they are not forced to do abortions.

No one will know who THE antichrist is until Israel makes a 7 year peace deal that AC oversees.

If anyone sees this happen, make peace with God and hunker down. There is a long 7 years coming. Then afterwards Hallelujah.

I thought they got around the provision by letting non-Catholics perform the murders.

One can only imagine the sight of priests and nuns being handcuffed

People, this is the way Marxism and Communism acts-- it's a clear shot over the bow, it is Christian persecution

I haven’t read the whole thread so someone may have already said this.

I was around the last time Hospitals took on abortion. People
called and asked if they were aborting babies and refused to go there.
The abortion mills were created and the hospitals got out.
WE are the power to keep this from happening. The “O” one can shove his pen...

This is NOT reversing The Church Amendments or 45 CFR Part 88. (But IANAL, so this isn't legal advice :-)]

ALL THIS DOES is change things back to what the rules were as of November 2008, prior to President Bush's lame-duck rule change.

From WaPo:
"The Obama administration's move to rescind broad new job protections for health workers who refuse to provide care they find objectionable [...]" [emphasis added :-)]

From CNN:

The Obama administration plans to reverse a regulation from late in the Bush administration allowing health-care workers to refuse to provide services based on moral objections, an official said Friday.

The Provider Refusal Rule was proposed by the Bush White House in August and enacted on January 20, the day President Barack Obama took office.

It expanded on a 30-year-old law establishing a "conscience clause" for "health-care professionals who don't want to perform abortions." [(emphasis added :-)]
IMO, this is one of the big reasons why conservatives get marginalized. We MUST be better than the MSM, making sure of our facts and not screaming "The Sky is Falling!" or crying wolf unless it's real.

This is exactly the point Douglas Kmiec and Time's Amy Sullivan were making...conservative bloggers are making us all look bad.

No offense meant, Coach, but I think that we really need to do better research, and I hope you take my comments as constructive...I want a better, more successful conservative movement, and as my tagline implies, part of that is facing constructive criticisms and warnings.

They can’t. Every hospital in the US receives some kind of federal money.

The feds have become quite the master puppeteers.

The ER isn’t required to do elective things, only to make sure people are stable enough to release. What if someone showed up in one claiming they need cosmetic surgery?

I guess because a physician can refuse to see a patient at his private office but a hospital is required to treat any one who shows up in the ER.

There's a place down the street which used to be a hospital. They shut down their ER and are now a "Care Facility". With no ER, they are no longer required to accept all comers.
