“I’m duty bound to protect your privacy to the best of my ability, but I cannot defend against stupidity.
Best advice I can give is to keep it to yourself. Don’t post anything that may embarrass you later, or end you up in the slammer.”
Excellent advice Jim.
It “ain’t” just the SS we should be concerned about.
During the Clintoon years my wife and I had relatives and friends, who got hounded and targeted by the IRS probably for what they said or wrote about the Clintoons.
During the 2004 election year, my OJ Simpson Bronco’s rear bumper had the 2000 GW and Cheney sticker on one side of the bumper and the 2004 sticker on the other side.
What caused me problems was a bumper sticker based on a billboard some of had put up in the Medford area during the Klamath Falls showdown. The sticker was not very nice to enviros. Another sticker blaming the Enviros for the forest fires we were having at that time was next to the mini billboard sticker.
In 2004 in spite of being traffic ticket free for decades, I got stopped twice by female Chippies and once by a local female leo. Their so called reasons for stopping me weren’t even close to being driving violations. They didn’t issue tickets because the polite discussions after the stops exposed they had created/fabricated the reasons for the stops.
The first stop, my wife and I were coming back home after helping our Son and DIL move into their new home. I went past a parked CHP at the legal speed on the highway and made a turn at the next intersection to talk to my wife about dinner. My wife followed, and we decided on who would do what for dinner. On the way out the light was red. I stopped and then made my right turn back on the highway. The CHP vehicle was still parked back on the main road that we turned off. Very quickly the CHP came after me and cut my wife off to hit her lights and pull me over.
She proceeded to tell me that I hadn’t stopped for 3 seconds at the red light. In the meantime my wife had pulled up behind the Chp and asked what was wrong. When the Chp said I hadn’t stopped for 3 seconds before turning right on red. To which my wife said, “I guess we will be seeing you in court with some of our CHP friends and mentioned a couple local lawyer friends.” At that moment I was dismissed and warned.
After the third stop, second stop by a female Chippie parked on 101 in the Redwood area. My wife was in the car. The trooper said I had gone by at an un safe speed. My wife said, “Was that because I was driving too slow. The CHP asked ny wife for her driver’s license. My wife refused because she wasn’t driving. They shared a few more words and the CHP handed me back my license and registration. She left after lecturing me to be safer. Later on in Oregon, my wife looked at the bumpers stickers and said the anti enviral stickers were probably the cause. So we removed them and the harassment stopped.
However, DMV stopped sending me the license renewal notices in the mail on the Bronco after the election. That was finally resolved after Gray Davis left.
Now, we have no political/power help at the national level and state level, and what we say or do could come back to haunt and hurt us.
Thanks for the reminder, Jim.
He’s a Nazi socialist and not my president (the democrat chant for the last 8 years). I wouldn’t think of insulting chimps, semi-trained or otherwise by comparing them to him. He’s a traitor to the constitution like all of his party. As Hillary famously shouted it is patriotic to criticize our government and its leadership. And racist? No, referring to him as a Nazi or being dumber than some other primates is not racist nor is that in violation of the constitution (at least not yet).
Thanks for your honesty, integrity and defense of the republic, Jim. Thanks for the forum.
I think your description is the model to follow. Calling him names or describing his theories as marxist = ok. Determining that you should therefore follow up with some specific action = not ok.
God will avenge, everyone. It’s up to Him, or the voters. Pray for our country.
Sound advice.
Semper Fi!
I agree, Jim.
I think we should hit the “abuse” button if we see that a poster has crossed the line and is making what a reasonable person would see as a threat against POTUS.
As to what SS would find “reasonable” I have no clue.
But too much “salty talk” could have a negative impact on the whole site.
~~Wise counsel, Jim ............... PING!
(email, phone gathering time as well )
Everything I post is posted as though the one person in the world who would jump at any chance to see the most harm come to me is going to read it. It has served me pretty well.
I’ve said some dumb stuff but I am as careful as possible to take responsibility for my implications but nobody’s inferences.
The inferences of others will not get you in “real” trouble. One’s own implications can, however.
IOW, I completely agree with you Jim. We can say things are bad and we are doing what we deem necessary that is legal and constitutional to preserve ourselves and our families, but talking about doing harm to others or other “implications” could be very dangerous very soon.
Sounds like a threat to me. ... or at least it sounds like something that someone planning something "unpopular" might see as a threat.
BLOAT, and keep it dry.
Perhaps I shall from now on think in terms of what the 'other site' posters are looking for and disappoint the dreks. That way the Secret Service will not have to waste their valuable time running down 'other site' poster accusations.
Bump for good advice.
I agree. We need to stick to neutral terminology like “Inaccurate Conception,” “Constitutionally-challenged,” “Our Socialite President,” “He’s Red - We’re White & Blue,” “Kenya Dig it?” “Bail out, Obama!” “Barack to the Lucre,” “Reboot YOUR image!” and finally, “This is a fine mess you’ve gotten us in, Stanley (Ann)”
Thank you for the heads up Jim. ;)
Visits from the SS?
Obama has rivived Hitler’s Stormtroopers?
Not surprising, really.
(sarcasm, and yet not)
Thanks for keeping us straight.
