Scalia: You need 4 votes for Obama eligibility case

A lawyer lobbying the U.S. Justice Department and the U.S. Supreme Court for a review of Barack Obama's qualifications to be president says a key conservative justice has hinted that another conservative justice has been voting against hearing the dispute. According to Orly Taitz, a California attorney working through her Defend Our Freedoms Foundation on several cases challenging Obama, said she was presented with an opportunity to ask a question of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia yesterday. The issue of Obama's eligibility has been raised before the Supreme Court at least four times already but has yet to be given a single hearing. Cases have been brought by Taitz, Philip Berg, Cort Wrotnowski and Leo Donofrio.

Rush, Coulter and Hannity deal with threats everyday. Hannity carries a gun and Coulter has armed body guards. I can't see any of them shying away from this because of threats. Hell Bush I and II have secret service protection, what's stopping them from raising the issue?

I am no lawyer by any stretch but I gotta call shens on this one.

I cannot see a long serving, seasoned member of SCOTUS discussing this in the first place, never mind offering advice on how to get the case heard.

I am kinda xurious as to where the eligibility issue goes but somehow this story just has a funny smell to it.

To believe her story is to believe Scalia to be an incompetent justice who decides which cases to hear from customers at a book signing.

Apparently Scalia really was at a book signing in LA on March 9th, and Taitz's description of the general atmosphere appears to be accurate. So far I haven't found any confirmation of her microphone question and Scalia's answer, or the comments she claims to have made while getting her books signed.

One reason Scalia may have been open to some general questions about filing cases with the Supreme Court is that the book he was plugging is called Making Your Case: The Art of Persuading Judges.

One would think Scalia would not be so careless as to discuss a specific case, but it does sound plausible that Taitz was there. Taitz's description on her blog is quite detailed, but one other thing that also detracts from her credibility is that the end veers off into some additional speculation that sounds very paranoid.
