interesting notes about Greek Independence Day.

The modern Greek Flag was raised this day by a Greek Orthodox priest in defiance fo the Ottoman Empire (sshhh those were moslems)

The stripes on the gree flag are for the words “Liberty or Death”. sound familiar?

The first draft of the modern greek constitution was created in paris france when a greek patriot sought out the assistance of Thomas Jefferson. (yes THAT jefferson)

Hillary Clinton did not know that the Greeks are credited with creating democracy. They also created the representative democracy as the ancient athenians had representatives elected to a senatorial body.

The first excursion into nation building of the USA was the 1821 war of independence of Greece. The then flegling nation actually sent humanitarian supplies and assistance on the notion of kindered brotherhood of democracy. (I believe it was Dr. Howe (sp?))

This is actually an annual event. It has been occuring as far back as 1922.

No mention in the news coverage of who the Greeks fought for independence from: the Muslims.

Can you imagine if this war was today? The Greeks would be smeared as terrorist neo-cons.
