A gunman opened fire at an immigration services center in downtown Binghamton on Friday, killing as many as 13 people before authorities found him dead, officials said. Gov. David Paterson said at a news conference that 12 or 13 people had been killed.
A law enforcement official said the body of the man believed to be the gunman was found in an office of the American Civic Association building. The official was not authorized to speak publicly about the details of an ongoing hostage situation and was talking on condition of anonymity.
The gunman barricaded the rear door of the building with his car before entering through the front door, firing his weapon, the official said.
It wasn't clear whether the gunman was included in the number of dead provided by the governor.
The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin reported that citizenship classes had been scheduled Friday at the center.
The Binghamton SWAT team responded, and the FBI was sending hostage negotiators and an evidence response team to the scene. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was also sending agents to Binghamton

Yet another case of SWAT assembling outside and waiting for reinforcements while the shooter does his thing.
When will they learn?
Yea, all these restrictive laws and gun free zones really enhance safety in the workplace. /sarc?

It seems that they will only kick in the door and shoot you and your dog if they believe that you are not a threat to them. The exception, of course, is the recent Oakland shooting where the SWAT team stormed an apartment with (I believe) the intent of executing a cop killer.

SWAT will be willing to intercede when it becomes PC to do so. Right now, you have to check the political standing of the shooter before making that decision. Remember, they are part of the government, not citizens acting in your best interest.
SWATs roll is to protect the police. Everyone should remember that. If anyone is ever in my kids school, the cops will have to shoot me in the back, because I’m going in the moment I arrive.
The truth is that not every security officer will value your life as much as he does his own. Columbine wasn't the first instance of cops standing by while a massacre was being carried out, and it sure as heck won't be the last. This is why it's better for people to protect themselves with firearms rather than rely 100% on the cops to do so. Because when your instinct for self-preservation will always be stronger than a cop's instinct to rush into the unknown at the risk of his own life.
Don’t tell me another gun went on a rampage! And then the gun executed the person who was transporting the gun from place to place. When are ever going to get rid of these evil guns. Not all guns mind you, just the evil ones. You know, the ones owned by conservatives.
NY1 in NYC reported that a Vietnamese interpreter had been called to the scene. What the shooter an American citizen? An illegal?

I may be wrong, but it seems like alot more of these incidents happen under RAT Presidents.
I keep waiting for the “Assault Rifle” thing to pop up.
Then they sit outside while people get slaughtered.
