I keep waiting for the “Assault Rifle” thing to pop up.

So far, this time they are saying "High Powered" Rifle. But the only guns I've heard they recovered were two handguns, action type unspecified.

If one person in the building had been armed it would not have happened.

Oh likely it still would have happened, but the butcher's bill would not be so high.

This guy blocked the back door with his car, he went in there to kill people, not to come out alive. Too bad someone couldn't have accommodated his death wish before he killed 13 people. Many of the people he killed were taking a practice citizenship test when he burst in on them.

Now they are backing off on the ID of the killer. Might not have been name they previously released.

Witnesses said High Power Rifle, cops say only two handguns. "Possibly semiautomatic"??? How could they not know if the guns they recovered were semi-autos or revolvers. (or other types).

Something does not computer. Nobody mistakes a handgun for a rifle. No cop would not know a semi-automatic from a revolver if they had it in their custody.

I briefly listened to Neil Cavuto a few minutes ago, and thought I heard him say that the perp was able to gain entrance by unlocking the back door. Did anyone else hear that?

He *blocked* the back door with his vehicle. He didn't want his victims escaping out that way. He went in through the front door.

Liberals, Gov’t workers, social workers, illegals.

Illegals don't take practice citizenship tests. I suspect these were legal resident aliens. At least the ones taking that practice test.

It will be interesting to listen to the anti-gun slant from the governor's office. They were getting warmed up for this attack on all gun owners during the Glenn Beck slot. I had to turn it off.

It was reported that the guy had a green jacket on, I wonder what type of high power rifle he could carry under a jacket?

Engineering is alot different from a “factory” job. I’m not sure how it is that gov. just “gave” it to him.

You didn’t already hear his speech today?

The slit-eyed homeless-looking dude started going on about other shootings recently (I guess), and “how much of this will we have to take”, etc. I was waiting for the punchline of “before we take away all the guns from everyone and melt them down?”

Yes, I forgot to say that the Russian woman told me that her husband received FREE college at the State University of New York at Utica/ Rome for engineering and then he got the state job.

This may have been the first shot fired in the revolution.

Your most likely right. I have a theory. I think the downstate DUmmocraps wanted to drain the Republicans out of Upstate New York so they placed oppressive taxes on companies and made them leave and then the Republicans left. Now, they are filling up Upstate NY with muslims and everything else under the sun who will do what they are told and vote democrat.

Personally, I do not even mind the Christian refugees that are coming in, but the Muslims make me very nervous.

“Muslims make me very nervous.”

I do not trust them and think they are antithetical to the American way of life.

I am fervently praying for a peaceful return of power to “we the people’, but am preparing mentally for revolution.

Yet another case of SWAT assembling outside and waiting for reinforcements while the shooter does his thing.

Isn't SWAT training supposed to make THEM the reinforcements?

Yes. But standard operating procedures for most departments is to assemble the entire team at a safe location before attempting entry.

SWAT teams treat “active shooters”, i.e. guys who go someplace just to kill a lot of people the same way they treat a barricaded suspect with hostages. The problem is, “active shooters” don’t wait. They don’t want to negotiate. They just want to kill.

Studies have shown that in the vast majority of cases “active shooters” commit suicide as soon as they are confronted with armed force, even if it’s only a single officer - assuming they haven’t finished what they came to do and killed themselves before the first officers arrive on the scene. If the first cop on the scene in this case had gone in there’s a chance he might have saved some lives.

The sad and ironic corollary is the recent case in Oakland, CA where SWAT went in on a barricaded suspect, who was not an “active shooter” but and was better armed than they thought, without making an adequate effort to negotiate or wear the guy down. Two good men got killed.

Police forces need to treat “barricaded suspects” and “active shooters” differently. Unfortunately this places the terrible burden assessment on the first officers responding to a very chaotic and dangerous situation. Mistakes will be made and innocent people will die because of those mistakes.

As long as there are places where sick bastards know they can go and find people who are forbidden by law from defending themselves this sort of thing is going to continue to happen.

Thank you for attempting to educate me on how this works. The Columbine killers were active shooters then weren’t they? Would you agree that in that case it’s pretty well established that the SWAT waited way too long? I ask you seriously because i’m interested and want to be informed.
