I wonder how true this is. I can’t imagine such systems would be hooked up to the Internet for any reason. Of course, people who work for these companies could be in a position to breach security...

Last week, Senate Democrats introduced a proposal that would require all critical infrastructure companies to meet new cybersecurity standards and grant the president emergency powers over control of the grid systems and other infrastructure.
The story is leaked now in order to give cover to the Cybersecurity legislation which puts the internet under White House control. I already heard an earlier story about the millions spent by the Pentagon fixing cyberspace break-ins.
Terrorism will be denied by this administration until they want to use it to justify treading on our liberty. [In usual form, this is the strategy that they blamed on Bush.]
We are architecting a whole new grid to be more secure and carry the juice required to manage an electric car environment. This is a very big project.

It’s a good idea to have a plan so you can live off the grid for at least a month. I have well water, so when the electricity’s off, we have no water. I’ve store up extra food and have invested in some 55 gallon drums for an emergency water supply.
I wish I could afford a back up hand pump for my water system, but that will have to wait for another day. Just paid my taxes, you know.
I hope the answer to this problem is not smart grids...

This is why Obama is an idiot trusting the Russians, or the Chinese at ALL, on anything (especially things like the Nukes).
I mean, seriously, how can even die-hard Commies come to ANY conclusion other than Obama is an imbecile??? Putin may be friends with Chavez, for instance, but I’m sure they don’t completely “TRUST” each other either.
If someone was going to build the “perfect” communist government out of people in our world today — Obama would be nowhere NEAR the “short-list” (or the REALLY LONG one! LOL). The man is DANGEROUSLY IGNORANT!
Too convenient to have this come out now, after the POTUS requests emergency powers over the infrastructure. This is how he’s gonna ram his “smart” grid down our throats.
I believe Gertz wrote a book that said this very thing would happen. He said the Chinese were working on this. Take down the grid and everything stops. Everything.
