Yes, you are correct. Its easier than I thought ;-)

He would only have to stop to reload three times and could could pull out two clips at once.

I’d forgotten that the SMLE held 10 rounds and was just thinking of the clips. Its definitely a better choice than the Mauser or Springfield, just for that reason. The only thing is I don’t own one yet. Looks like I just found a reason.

Your clips might be pinched as you say. They should strip smoothly.

Does any of these liberal gun haters ever do the math?

98 shots, one minute? - How many shots per second?

Firing 5 times as much in 3 times the period with far less accuracy using a semi-auto is entirely doable with little skill.

I presume you're referring to the Binghamton Barbarian, not Sgt Snoxall.

...20 hits into a 20 inch circle in 20 seconds at a 1000 yards...

Wouldn't be hard ... for Ma Deuce.

Interesting report, since I read, it took them two minutes to get there and then 45 minutes to go. It’s amazing that they can fake such accurate information. I doubt that anyone in the building can give an accurate report since they would be diving for cover and not looking at their watches.

PURE BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Let's see, 38 rounds is 7 reloads starting with a full rifle."

The standard Enfield mag holds ten rounds (I have a box full of them) so it would have required three reloads, but the Enfield is not the easiest rifle to swap mags on. The lever is small, and the spring is stout, and the mags fit tight.

Must have been carrying speedloaders. Guess not. They weren't revolvers. Must have been carrying extra clips.

Sig, you managed to use the terms "speedloaders" and "clips" in one post about pistols. That could be a first here.

With a FReep handle of Sig Sauer P220, you should know better.

I would be more worried about a man who fires 100 times and kills 90 people.

That's interesting. Have you ever considered the ramifications of 10,000 skilled marksmen each firing only one round and then disappearing into the shadows?

That is what I would fear.

“IHMO, the 45 jammed.”

Maybe this scum bag couldn’t handle the recoil of the .45!

??? You have a full box of rounds or Enfields, if Enfields I want one.

As for changing mags, they’re stripper clip fed. You wouldn’t actually want to change the mag. Did I misunderstand you?

And yes I had my math wrong, I was thinking of the five round stripper clips and forgot that it had a 10 round magazine.

Every Enfield I have has a box feed magazine, and no provision for anything else. The bottom of the mag is a solid piece of sheetmetal either soldered, or welded to the sides. They are held in by rectangular lugs soldered to the forward and rearward lips. A spring loaded dog lever by the trigger guard releases the mag. The cartridges are fed upward, zig-zag fashion (two rows) by an accordion spring inside of the mag.

From Wikipedia, FYI:

Ed McGivern is renowned as one of the best handgunners that ever lived. His Guinness world record for “The greatest rapid-fire feat” (set in August 20, 1932 at the Lead Clube Range, South Dakota) still stands. This feat consisted of “firing two times from 15 feet five shots which could be covered by a silver half-dollar piece in 45/100’s of a second”.

Mr. McGivern was capable of many amazing shooting feats, most of them well documented in his book.[1] To name just a few:

* He could break six simultaneously hand thrown clay pigeons (standard trap targets) in the air before they hit the ground.
* He could hit a tin can hand thrown 20 ft. in the air six times before it hit the ground.
* He could drive a tack or nail into wood by shooting it.
* He could shoot the spots out of playing cards, or even split a playing card edge on.
* He could shoot a dime on the fly.

All of these executed with either hand using a factory Smith & Wesson M&P double action revolver (puportedly his favorite handgun).

Competition shooter Jerry Miculek has attempted, and broken, some of McGivern’s long standing records, such as the record for 60 shots fired from 10 revolvers. Althought Miculek holds a number of records, his attempt to beat McGivern’s 5 shot record resulted in a time of .57 seconds.[2] A testament to McGivern’s ability was the fact that the 5 shot record was set in 1932, when McGivern was 58 years of age. Soon after that point, arthritis ended McGivern’s competitive shooting career.[1]

I’m no Enfield authority, but I’m surprised that they produced Enfields that don’t take stripper clips. What Mk do you have?

The Enfields of 1914 most certainly did take stripper clips.
