...the Enfield is not the easiest rifle to swap mags on.I've read that the Enfield magazines are fitted to the rifle; they're not intended to be interchangable.

That's not an "early" Enfield; that's a Number 4, probably Mark 1. Actually from fairly late in the line.

How long does it take to holster one weapon (or possibly drop it in this case) and unholster another?
I can unholster one of my handguns and bring it to bear in about 1 second (okay, a second and a half), and I am VERY slow on the draw.
It’s not like he had to return to his car to get another gun. Handguns are SMALL - it is easy to carry more than one.
And I’m not daying he DID shoot as many rounds as the media is reporting - in fact I suspect they are exagerrating somewhat. I AM saying, that unlike some claims being made here, it is NOT beyond the realm of possiblity for a well prepared shooter to discharge 90+ rounds in one minute from semi-automatic weapons. Doing it while walking/running through a building looking for victims? That’d probably be tough.

Depends on the magazine size. The Beretta could hold up to 16 with standard mags. Even more with after market ones. 1911 - 6,7,20 or any number in between.
