WASHINGTON (AP) - The president's new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth's air.
John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays. Holdren said such an experimental measure would only be used as a last resort.
"It's got to be looked at," he said. "We don't have the luxury of taking any approach off the table."

Those loons are headed for a sure revolt of they start messing with the weather in such a manner. Such idiocy can only come from those with no concept of science. Bill Maher would be proud.
No one accurately understands the climate system.
If you start messing around with something you don’t understand, that’s a recipe for disaster.

For some reason (it’s 6AM - maybe thats why) I initially read that they were going to shoot politicians into the air to slow down Global Warming.
I thought that might have a chance at working!

These people are certifiably insane. A guy on Fox was saying a while ago that this idea was one the Soviet Union had. So I guess that is what Obama likes to mimic.
If Wilhelm Reich were still alive (and if his taxes were paid up) he could be named Climate Czar. A little cloudbusting orgone energy is all we need.
What a great idea, let’s really get proactive in this global warming thing. Here’s a much better idea:
It’s widely assumed that the particulate thrown into the atmosphere by a numerous nuclear blasts would screen enough of the sun to cause a “nuclear winter”.
Also, the fine sands of the Middle Eastern Deserts would be especially well suited for atmospheric suspension.
So . . .
Let’s go to the UN security council, get all nuclear powers to aim their nukes toward Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudia Arabia, (sorry kuwait) and let em rip.

Cool planet, peace in the middle east, nuclear dissarmament complete, and all the oil you can drill for (assuming a glass penetrating drill bit and some radiation protective garb)

Out-of-control freak. There is nothing, it seems, that he thinks he cannot control. It is just amazing.
The Mayans had a pretty good handle on the weather. They would have human sacrifices of enemies. Which makes as much sense as this crap.
I seem to recall a scheme in the ‘70s that involved covering the polar caps with soot in order to stave off the coming ice age.
Anyone else?
This whole GW issue reminds me of the Tower of Babel.
