According to a Marine Pilot
In addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control facility, all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute heads up if they will be transiting Iranian airspace.
This conversation was recorded on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz, while flying
from Europe to Dubai ..
(Excerpt) Read more at patriotroom.com ...
Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am not in Iranian airspace, I am in Iraqi airspace.'
Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'
Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!'
Iranian Air Defense Radar: (no response .... total silence)
love it.
thx.
I also like the one about the British pilot of a jetliner who was having trouble finding a particular gate at Frankfurt airport. The Air Traffic Controller got frustrated and said "Ach! Haven't you been to Frankfurt before??" And the British captain said: "Twice, actually. But it was dark both times and we didn't land."
hee hee hee.. that’s funny
Didn’t know how old it was .. just read it on Patriot Room. I did hear about that Frankfort pilot though ...
lol...
In another life I used to fly 747 freighters, we used to fly over Iran in going to India and Hong Kong. One of the gents I flew with had left Iran during the overthrow of the Shah. It was a strange situation.
An Ace in the making...
That would have gotten really ugly, really fast...
Too bad the recording didn’t work in the link...
The best one was when they Dropped the Iatolla Komeini out of his coffin in the street. Then the sheet fell off and there was a dead little naked man laying on the street with all his buddies screaming.
Is there un-cut video of that anywhere?
Awesome! Unfortunately, the pilot will be grounded as result of the “let’s talk” war policy of the Obama admin.
While not as concise as Gen. McAuliffe, well said.

As fighters, Marines are second to none.
As comedians, Marines are also second to none.
Semper fi, do or die
Married to one. And you’re correct. :)
I like this one...
Pan Am 727 flight, waiting for start clearance in Munich, overheard the following:
Lufthansa (in German): “Ground, what is our start clearance time?”
Ground (in English): “If you want an answer you must speak in English.”
Lufthansa (in English): “I am a German, flying a German airplane, in Germany Why must I speak English?”
Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent): “Because you lost the bloody war!”
>>That would have gotten really ugly, really fast...
you mean gotten silly, really fast. See Bekaa Valley Turkey Shoot
A similar joke to that is the one about the American Airlines capt who asks for clarification whiling taxiing at Berlin’s Templehof Airport.
The German ground controller is irritated at having to repeat instructions and asks, “have you never flown to Berlin before?”
To which the American Airlines capt replied “Certainly! I flew here several times in 1944, but we didn’t land..”
US fighting forces are not bawlless... just our politicians.
Don’t mind the critics SkyDance,
As long as it puts the kind of smile on our faces it does it’s priceless.
