In Harrisburg tomorrow, Rendell is expected to call for the reinstatement of the federal ban on the sale of AK-47s and other automatic firearms.

"Assault weapons were not made to hunt," Rendell added. "No one goes out and shoots a deer with an AK-47 or an M-16. No one does. No one."

Good timing too. His first remarks since the murder of 3 policemen by a white man. Note no outcry over the Oakland murder of 4 policeman by a black man last month.

Maybe not deer, but people shoot smaller prey all the time with 223 caliber AR rifles. There are also 308 caliber AR rifles that are used for deer and larger game.
