FAA says low-flying plane over Staten Island is 'pre-planned' flight to take photos by Staten Island Advance Monday April 27, 2009, 10:03 AM
A plane, that appears to be a commercial jet tailed by fighter jets, is a "pre-planned" military flight taking photos of the Statue of Liberty, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Reports indicate it may be Air Force One.
"It is pre-planned, pre-coordinated with everyone involved," said FAA spokesman Jim Peters. "It's a military flight over New York to take photos."
Peters, who stressed it is not an emergency, said the flight is circling the Statue of Liberty and New York City to take photos.
Peters said city officials as well as state government agencies in New York and New Jersey were briefed on the flight in advance.
I wonder if anyone died, suffered broken bones, or had an asthmatic attack as a result of the mass evacuation of these office buildings.
It is just cruel for the Obama Admin to put NY’ers through this event and prevent the NYP from alerting the public about it.
Someone needs to be fired for this F-Up.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking we're looking at movie-quality ads for 2010, showing Air Force One flying by landmarks and scenic landscapes, while an announcer intones, "President Obama has made us proud again. Now, we must make sure to elect the legislative team that will support and assist him ... " blah blah blah ...
Maybe the President needs to get his priorities straight. First the President's job is to protect this country, not to scare it's citizens.
Seems to me with his administration going into panic mode over the Mexican flu, he should be ordering the borders closed, not ordering publicity shots for his airplane.

I liked Tice as well. Don’t want my taxpayer money going to fund a new Vikings stadium though. This state is sick with taxes and they’re trying to implement more in the legislature. I hope Pawlenty holds his ground.

Americans deserved an honest answer to this stunt! Will the media demand an answer? Perhaps we should all call Peter Kings office and ask him to get to the bottom of it!

I just got off the phone with Rep. Pete King’s office and the guy said it was ‘a photo op’ for Air Force One. I told him that Rep King needed to look into it to make sure that American taxdollars were not going to Obama Campaign Commercials. Not sure it will do any good unless more people call the office.

If anyone of those evacuated so much as broke a nail-—I’d almost support ‘em in a lawsuit against whatever Admin PUKE is responsible for this WASTE OF OUR MONEY.
Be willing to bet that there was no breakdown in warning system, just didn’t bother to issue it because “WE’RE THE ELITES” and don’t need to bother with all that.
I don’t doubt that folks were fainting or that there were injuries. Sheesh, it’s enough to give one a heart attack.
