Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh signed an eight-year, $400 million contract in 2008 with Clear Channel Communications! In terms even I can understand, that's $50 million a year -- not to mention tens of millions more in endless endorsements.
I've just got to ask: Why on God's green Earth does he make so much money? Yes, I realize Limbaugh is the de facto Führer of the Republican Party. Yet, as far as I can tell, he's making well over half-a-billion dollars the next eight years for doing nothing more than always being wrong.
Didn't Limbaugh predict the invasion of Iraq would be smooth sailing? Didn't Limbaugh parrot Bush every time he said, "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" -- all the way up to and over the economic collapse cliff, in September 2008? In January 2009, didn't Limbaugh predict the apocalypse if President Obama's economic plans were passed by the majority-Democrat Congress?
Then, on May 5, didn't Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, a Republican, predict the economy would be out of recession by fall 2009? Jobless claims are dropping. Retail sales are improving. Thus, the stock market has been positive the past two months.
So, where's this apocalypse we were all dying for?
I'm sorry, but as the rational human being bank-rolling him, I would absolutely have to know that Limbaugh has been right about one, single, teensy-weensy thing in order to have completely justified his $400-million-plus goldmine jackpot.
Jealous? You bet your sweet, sweet apple I am! Hey, I'm wrong all the time, too. Quick -- someone write me a check for $400 million and I'll be as wrong as you want for as long as you want. Heck, I'll even go one better. I'll be wrong and over the moon to get paid a measly 1 percent of that amount for my magnificently selfless services.

Reckon this assuages their sense of guilt about how they made their ill gotten booty? Rubin got a $50,000,000 deal from Citi, didn’t he? The biggest hypocrites are Democrats and by long odds.

(PS the fundemantals of the economy didn't include distruction of the housing market by Bawny Fwank forcing lenders to put millions of unqualified people into homes they couldn't afford and the artificial expansion of housing prices that went along with it.)
The true answer to your question (and I think Rush would agree) is sales. Rush has made an unbelievable amount of money for those who advertise on his show. He is a great pitch man; he’s smart about the products he chooses to advertise as well. Lumber Liquidators, Select Comfort, Allen Brothers, Life Lock, Pro Flowers, etc, etc. Even Apple Computer who doesn’t pay Rush a dime has no doubt been lifted by his show and they know it.
Every company out there takes good, good, care of their top salesmen. Rush will be well cared for because his listeners are loyal. It’s a Capitalist thing, Nathan, you wouldn’t understand.
And the answer is "We need the Fairness Doctrine" /moonbat>

Try applying elsewhere. If 7-11 is your situation, change it. Sitting back and waiting for Osama to change it will not get you anywhere in life other than on the internet griping about your shallowness and others success. Rush has worked his ass off to be what he is today. Oprah is a fraud. She is an entertainer just like Rush. Why not gripe about her?

Isn’t the richest man in the world, Bill Gates, a Demo, or at least an Obama Koolaid drinker? He developed products used on virtually every computer in the world. Do the same, Nat, and you can be very rich too.
A further note: I think it’s understandable to envy the very rich. That’s not the same as begrudging them their wealth if legally attained.

He obviously doesn’t listen to Rush. He is correct, however, when he says he himself is often wrong. He is wrong in almost every statement in this article. He is also wrong to demand that someone give him $50,000,000 for being wrong. Rush doesn’t get paid for being right or wrong. He gets paid for being engaging and provocative. This dolt is lucky to get busfare to write this drivel.
