Episcopal Church fires 61 priests and deacons in the Central Valley.

Part of the reason, is they followed former Bishop John David Schofield when he rebuked the national church for its stance on the ordination of gays into the priesthood.

The 61 clergy had six months to deny or recant their stance against...

OK, so the moderator didn't like my use of a particular scatalogical description of this blog post, so I will revise it.

So much for Tolerance....

I'm no fan of the Episcopal Church stance on homosexuality, but this little blog post is scatological.

The priests were "fired" (actually deposed) as priests of the Episcopal Church because they stated that they had left the Episcopal Church.

Ken Malloy has an opinion. Too bad he has to lie to make it known.

The priests were "fired" (actually deposed) as priests of the Episcopal Church because they stated that they had left the Episcopal Church.

It's a bit more complicated than that, as the vocation as a priest is different than a vocation is elsewhere.

These priests, following their bishop (and The Episcopal Church is more or less a confederation of dioceses) lawfully left the Episcopal Church, and lawfully (by Anglican law) put themselves under the authority of another Anglican Province, that of the Southern Cone. As Anglican Provinces TEC and Southern Cone are equal, and mutually recognize each other as legitimate (though the Southern Cone has an "impaired communion" with TEC, as do all other orthodox Anglican Provinces around the world).

The ordination vows that a priest makes in TEC (or any other Anglican Province) are NOT to that particular province, rather, they are to the Church universal. Hence a priest going from one province to another--is no violation of their ordination vows--and therefore there is no (TEC rule) valid legal reason behind defrocking these ministers.

They could be fired (no longer paid) if they were paid by TEC, but they weren't....they were and are paid by their congregations. Besides that, they quit TEC many months ago--and so haven't had a direct relationship with them for some time.

What this is, is a formal "defrocking," by TEC which historically was only allowed to be used for cases of moral turpitude...and then only after a required (church) trial and other procedures--none of which were done here.

So while simplified, it is true that these priests were "fired" for their stand on homosexual ordination--since they stood by their bishop in his stand on this--and have been given as severe a penalty (revoking their ordination) as TEC can muster now (besides being sued...).

Happily for them, the Southern Cone Province of the worldwide Anglican Communion does not recognize TEC's defrocking as valid...

When a “Christian” group dismisses that in the Bible which disagrees with their sensibilities, and they for instance embrace abortion, homosexuality, etc., they’ve in effect become a cult.

Yup...politics, journalism, education, government, law, the military ...

Rush Limbaugh was discussing how the insane are running free in the streets of the cesspool that is now Californication...or as I prefer cesspoolifornication, and are now running the asylum.

They’ll do to the U.S. what they’ve done to that once great state.

That sums it up. I have my first child due to be born this fall. I've been thinking how worthless the dominant culture is going to be in helping me raise my child. I will need to find other parents in my area who think like I do so we can support each other in raising moral, responsible, educated children.

Sorry, I'm going off on a tangent from the main thread...

I hope you’re not IN Washington, either the armpit or the state, but you’re off to a good start already with your mindset!

Congratulations!
