Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly responded on The Factor tonight to criticisms of his attacks last night on Free Republic and Hot Air by the sites' respective founders, Jim Robinson and Michelle Malkin. The segment last night was on reaction by right and left wing websites on the Judge Sotomayor nomination to the Supreme Court. Free Republic was singled out for an obnoxious comment about Sotomayor being diabetic. Hot Air was singled out for an impolitic strongly worded appeal to block her nomination.
O'Reilly noted Malkin's reaction made on Fox and Friends this morning and Robinson's comments which were posted on Free Republic and e-mailed to The Factor.
O'Reilly agreed that both had points but that the sites should better monitor their comments as he does at his site and that O'Reilly would hold both right and left wing sites accountable.
Hot Air complained that the comment singled out by O'Reilly was labeled a 'blog' entry rather than a comment, thereby leaving the impression it was made by one of the site's official posters.
Jim Robinson's response was boiled down to Jim calling O'Reilly "an elitist gasbag" and noting that offending comments sometimes get past the moderators. O'Reilly did not inform his viewers that Mr. Robinson is a diabetic who has lost family to the disease.
The segment aired about forty minutes into the program tonight.

We do monitor comments, O'Blowhard - however, YOUR forum is closed to the general public - one wonders how many off-color comments lurk there.
Beck is ok, Wallace is ok. The rest of it is breaking news gongs every time a celebrity takes a whiz in the alley and Hannity ending every sentence with the word “here.”
I want news, not conservative or liberal leaning news. The slant isn’t what bothers me, though. It’s the tabloid nonsense masquerading as “news.”

On the other hand, Michelle Malkin has refused to appear on the Big O’s show.

Consider that many times these comments are from lib lurkers just to make FR look bad - like at the Palin rallies and Tea Parties. But, some are not. Hit the abuse button if something violates usage policies.
I'll bet if we monitored O'Reillys site, we could catch a few beauties before they were deleted, too.
He hurts a lot of good people by using them for his own self aggrandizement. He'll damn anyone if he thinks he can use them on TV to show his so-called "fairness."

Single out one comment, usually on a conservative site, and use it to discredit the entire site.
Of course, the Leprechaun could find dozens and dozens of nasty, foul-mouthed, irresponsible comments on lefty sites, but what would be the fun in that?
When they start putting conservatives off our televisions and radios, O’Reilly will still be broadcasting. He will be the token “conservative”(a fake really)that the Pretender will hold up to say that the media is not one sided, and that there is freedom of the press. O’reilly has been getting stranger and stranger since the TOTUS and his gang moved in..
Agree! The ACORN interview was a wasted opportunity, it should have been a full hour with all questionable acts of ACORN presented to their CEO. He should have cornered them with their own words and actions.
I never did get hooked on OReilly’s show and only gave it shot last night hoping someone would give it to ACORN. Glen Beck should take the key primetime slot and have OReilly run the 3-5 AM show.

I’m really glad I haven’t spent any meaningful time listening to you or watching your show; especially because it never takes more than a few statements from you to totally turn me off.
