"Last Show" host David Letterman responded to letters from Sarah and Todd Palin concerning dirty jokes he made about the Governor and her 14-year-old daughter. Letterman took the whole thing as a joke and made the Palins out to be buffoons.

Once an actor or comedian goes overtly political, it’s pretty much a concession that their career is on the wane and they’re just trying to stay relevant. The guy’s a clown, so don’t take his opinion too seriously.

I wish his career was in the toilet. Heck, I wish my career was in his toilet. He just signed another two-year, $30(ish) million a year deal with CBS.
It's been a long, long time since I've been as upset about something that I've seen on TV as I am right now. His absolutely disrespectful, unmanly and just downright hateful attack on the Palins tonight, along with the audience's approval is sad beyond description.
I literally do not recognize this country anymore. How anyone, secular or religious, could think what he said was appropriate let alone funny in any way, truly is a mystery to me. Not only is Letterman going to keep his job, but he's going to make tens of millions in the process. It's sad beyond words.

I agree. It’s both sad and angering. I don’t recognize half of this country. We’re in the “cold civil war.” What comes next is anybody’s guess.
I have refrained from commenting on this until I watched both the monologue and the top ten list. I have no issue with the top ten portion (Slutty flight attendant...), it was a cheap shot, low brow, toilet humor kind of comment, but what does one expect from an overrated, over exposed hack whose best days are behind him? Letterman stopped being funny years ago.
