Just saw it on Fox News in a discussion about the role of camera pens in the Iran protests.

I’ve known a huge number of Persians and by far what you experienced is the norm. Very driven, educated and cultured. Just some of the hardest working people I have ever met in my life. They thrive within America.

Of course they are still in the country. If you are talking about the Shah’s son, he is no leader. Nothing like his father strength wise.

That’s cool! I didn’t know that, never heard it before so thank you for teaching me something today. Indeed, God Bless those people who desperately need to be out from under that stifling government of theirs. I’ll say it again, we get blamed no matter what, so why not help someone who is reaching for democracy and a better way of life? Helping - at a bare minimum, offering help - isn’t meddling.

He is not like his father, he is not a strong leader.
But you probably know that already.

Some people will say or do anything to get attention!! Even if it means something is more important with regards to other people they somehow have to do or say something to bring attention to them. What do they call that?

Didn’t Obama say something today to the effect of wanting to engage in talks with Iran and the mistakes over the past 30 years? Maybe the Embassy hostage taking was our fault and Obama wants to apologize for us! I think Obama is so arrogant that he believes he can talk the Iranians into giving up nuclear weapons. But when Major Garette asked Obama his question about his reaction to all the protesting in Iran and why it took him so long for a stronger reaction, there was the real Obama!

Well, the reason I ask is the only way to get rid of Islamist leaders is to buy them off and send them somewhere else OR room-temp them.

This revolution needs one of those conditions to succeed, duh.

If I remember correctly, the Shah had runaway at one time and had to be coaxed back by the CIA. That being said, with that type of backing, one could be very strong. The Shah was “javid” (merciful) in many instances and strong in others, especially when he threatend to “don his Father’s boots”.

Yes, warsaw. The students have for a long time been hard-working, determined to achieve and succeed, in quest of a better, freer life, respectable and good-hearted young adults. It's bothered me for some time now--wondering how much was necessary in ridding the world of Nutjob--how anyone would be able to succeed in sparing the decent generation coming up.

Prayers and strength to the brave Iranian people.

The Shah himself was strong and no angel but his son, the one in America is not the strong leader type.

And how dare you insinuate otherwise.

How DARE I?

It's called "not believing everything you see on the internet."

Based on my limited experience with Iranians that I knew in college (during the revolution) there was very little love lost with the Shah and his family. And these Iranians were midshipmen in the Navy, so they were not your typical liberal rich students.

So, I made my statements on the general principal of “been there, done that.” Your experience is probably better than mine (really, not trying to sound snotty.)

And yes, based on the horror storied I heard first hand from the kids that came back a couple of years later, the Islamic Revolution was a nightmare. The stories made me respect these kids much more than I ever did prior to their expulsion from the US. For the first time in my life, the horrors of a dictatorship were “real” and not just on TV.

It think the comment of who is better is not a good argument. What would be better is a democratic and free election, and then go with the winner.

I mean, I dislike 99% of the Obama policies...compared to disliking about 60% of Bush’s. I think we can do better than both, don’t you.

People will do wonderful things if you stand aside and let them do it. In this case, i think Obama is doing the right thing, although he is sounding amazingly like Bush in his inability to articulate it. If we step up overtly, we run the risk of causing a more severe crackdown, and escalation of the terror attacks world wide, and Israel would need to move up their attack.

If Iran’s government fails, peace will break out around the world.

This is a tight rope walk. I am not sure Bambi has the guts to walk it, but I prey for it to turn out right. God is at work here.
