The wearing of that peace shirt is indicative of the complete contempt that the current Resident and his mate have for this country. It is matched by the complete contempt I have have for them and their lickspittle lapdogs in the State Run Media!
It suggests that they shop at Wal-mart (while putting down the rest of us, who *admit* to shopping at Wal-mart). Peace signs and dumb recycling symbols were all over the children’s clothes at Wal-mart this summer. My husband, the clueless nerd, even bought one of the recycle shirts for one of our daughters - didn’t recognize the symbol!
Yes, it reminds me too of the 60’s, but perhaps slightly in a different way.
It reminds me as you say of the anti-establishment, but sycophant, trendists of that era whom wanted so much to be part of, and be seen with the “In crowd”.
Yes that smelly, hairy, babbling bunch of idiots became an, and perhaps depending upon where one lived THE “In Crowd” of the era.
That symbol was, and actually is still today part of what unifies the hard core of what became a movement to a number of over the topper’s.
IMO had the Leftist Media not embraced the idiocy of the movement, the symbol, etc. which increased the exposure of the drugs and free love crowd as though it were simply another fad as was Hula hoop, Americans would be enjoying a more drug free, and less strained social environment.
I absolutely see red (multiple meanings there) when I see that symbol.

As I recall from my high school days, the so called Peace Symbol was actually a Surrender Symbol. It represented all who hated not only the military, but individuals in the military and werent afraid to show that hatred. It also was a symbol for all those who began the left wing push in this country that has culminated in the election of King Hussien. To me, it is the left wing equivilent of a swastika.

The answer is simple: The same thing is wrong with Malia wearing a peace sign as if she were wearing a “Kill them all and let God sort them out” t-shirt. Whether she know or likes it, she is a political billboard, and her middle-finger wagging styling (just like her father’s) is crass and idiotic.
If the Obamas want their children to be off limits, then they had best make them non-political. This was an overt political act.

The essense of the broken cross symbol is not only antichristian but also anti-religion. In the 60s and 70s the symbol’s meaning was enlarged to include anti-west, anti-America and anti-war (who in their right mind is not anti-war) and anti-family.
It also came to used by the left as a peace symbol. But this was simply the left’s method of hiding its anti-religion agenda.
That Christian and Jewish families fail to understand the real significance of this symbol is amazing to me. But, then, what is to be expected when churches and synogogs openly display the symbol.
These groups remind of the moth flying about the light bulb. Eventually, they’re gonna fly too close to the bulb and get burned.
The facts are that “peace sign” clothing is cool for tween girls. My 9 year old has some peace sign stuff and she will gladly say that she cannot stand Obamarx because he wants to “take all of our money.” She has no concept that it is “anti-war” or a symbol of the “radical left.” She just thinks it looks cool. I cannot speak for the daughter of the POTUS however...

Her father likes to “scratch” his face with his middle finger during speeches, just as he mentions the name of his political opponent (like Hillary or McCain).
Malia wore her political t-shirt just as brazenly, walking around as she accompanied her father on a diplomatic mission. It’s the in-your-face style of “non-political” politics on her part that I find to be sooffensive.
Does that explain my comment?
An 11 year old probably does not fully understand the political statement that is being made, and her parents appear to be using her to make their own “cutesy” political statement.
