Health deal sparks fury on the left

A House leadership deal with Blue Dogs and an aggressive marketing push by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) shifted the healthcare debate sharply toward centrist positions Wednesday, sparking threats of rebellion from the left.

The day’s events left the Senate Finance Committee’s emergent bill as the most viable vehicle on Capitol Hill, but also made clear that House Democrats are still riven by bitter disagreements. Democrats postponed a floor vote until after the August recess, meeting a top demand of centrist Blue Dogs.

The Blue Dogs’ deal, which cut $100 billion from the healthcare reform price tag, was instantly denounced by Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), co-chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, who said, “It’s unacceptable. We’re not going to vote for anything that doesn’t have a robust public plan.”

Liberals aimed to win 50 signatures on a letter to their leaders opposing the deal to make it clear they could defeat the healthcare bill on the floor.

“Fifty is our threshold,” said Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), a co-chairman of the caucus. “That’ll kill anything.”

The White House and Democratic leaders moved quickly to try to quell the liberal insurrection. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called a group of liberals to her office in the mid-afternoon, and Democrats postponed plans to continue a stalled markup of the bill by the Energy and Commerce Committee until Friday. Instead, they held a caucus meeting to answer member questions.

“It’s more important to let members ask questions, raise concerns,” said Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), the chairman of Energy and Commerce.

Within hours of the liberal complaints, Obama was on the phone with Rep. Jan Schakowsky, a fellow Illinois Democrat and Energy and Commerce member who is in charge of the healthcare issue for the Progressive Caucus.

Here’s the deal.....if some grand mealy-mouthed moderate plan emerges, the left will bail. There are more socialist ‘progressive’ Democrats than Blue Dogs. If they don’t get their public option, they could sink the bill. I think there could be an impasse here.

Grassley may sell out for a bogus co-op idea, but I’m pretty confident that the guy is dead set against the public option, as are Enzi, Hatch, and Snowe.

We will see. I think the left will almost certainly go with anything that Obama wants them to. They may scream but even if they can a very weak government option they would have a victory.

Hehehe...Blue Dogs and Mad Dogs, rippin into each other. Like the slaughter of the Kings in the BIble.

There's a stiff, cold, and refreshing breeze picking up from the north. It's clear air, clears the mind of all the smoke and haze.

Coming soon.

As far as health care is concerned...here is a link to the full House Democrat Health Care Plan in PDF. In Section 1233 E & F, pages 426-433, you find the part about mandatory end-of-life counseling for anyone over 65 years of age. Section 152 Page 50: All healthcare services will be provided without regard to "personal characteristcs" which is not defined within the document but is understood to include immigration status.

Section 224 b Page 125: The Secretary shall design and implement the payment mechanisms and policies under this section in a manner that — (1) seeks to (B) reduce health disparities (including racial, ethnic and other disparities).

A lot more provisions now being documented at that site.

Donwload it, read it, study it, then hammer your reps over it and pass it on to all you know asking them to do the same.

Also, here's a large image of the Democratic (Obama) Health Plan chart-another Obama empty promise. This is the one the House democrats are censuring. Email these links or the image to everyone you know.

So long as Medicaid and Medicare still exist unopposed there is NO “centrist” position. There are Left, Lefter, and blatant Communist positions.

The left is going to implode. As we are seeing America is "NOT" about the two parties,it's all about America. These 2 parties have led us to the road to nowhere in the past 100 years. We need a America 1st party to claim our country.Just an idea.

A weak public option will be a failure.

A public option that doesn’t have Medicare price controls will not have a palatable price tag, and if it can’t coerce doctors to participate, then no one will, and the provider network within the public option with be dogsh!t and will collapse.

Only a strong public option, fully funded and backed by the US treasury (not premiums), and one that can control prices and coerce doctor participation has a chance of survival. I’m pretty sure all those things are deal breakers for everyone outside the progressive caucus.

And go where? They may get angry that their socialist utopia is in jeopardy, but they're still going to support democrats/socialists. What's the difference?

Exactly. A weak government bureaucracy can be easily expanded by statists into a tyrannical. It only needs to be codified into law. That is why they must not succeed. Period.

Whatever. Then they can sell out their socialist principles and vote for a ‘weak’ public option. But as I said, if it doesn’t have mechanisms for complete socialist control of the market, it will collapse - I don’t think they’ll get any of that.

The best bet is to have a leader not form a third party, that is futile and would give the left even more power. We need to grow the conservative party of the GOP. We already represent better than 60% of the party. We need to remake the Republican party and it is happening. We just need to do our part but in many ways we aren’t. Look at Marco Rubio. We say we don’t want Christ and where is the money? Do we want what appears to be a safe win or do we want to demonstrate a real contrast on the issues we care about? Safe wins get us the kind of individuals who helped CAP n Trade pass the house.

“We will see. I think a lot of the Democrat angst is make believe. I show of sorts.”

I agree. The public option will be passed at a later date after this turd gets passed and signed into law.

The key is to get the camel’s nose under the tent first.

FACIST Health Care

THE ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE OBAMACARE
Written by Dr. Dave Janda
Thursday, 23 July 2009

As a physician who has authored books on preventative health care, I was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at a Congressional Dinner at The Capitol Building in Washington last Friday (7/17).

The presentation was entitled Health Care Reform, The Power & Profit of Prevention, and I was gratified that it was well received.

In preparation for the presentation, I read the latest version of “reform” as authored by The Obama Administration and supported by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. Here is the link to the 1,018 page document:

http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/pdf/publications/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf

Let me summarize just a few salient points of the above plan. First, however, it should be clear that the same warning notice must be placed on The ObamaCare Plan as on a pack of cigarettes: Consuming this product will be hazardous to your health.

The underlying method of cutting costs throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care. There is no focus on preventing health care need whatever. The plan’s method is the most inhumane and unethical approach to cutting costs I can imagine as a physician.

The rationing of care is implemented through The National Health Care Board, according to the plan. This illustrious Board “will approve or reject treatment for patients based on the cost per treatment divided by the number of years the patient will benefit from the treatment.”

Translation.....if you are over 65 or have been recently diagnosed as having an advanced form of cardiac disease or aggressive cancer.....dream on if you think you will get treated.....pick out your coffin.

Oh, you say this could never happen? Sorry.... this is the same model they use in Britain.

The plan mandates that there will be little or no advanced treatments to be available in the future. It creates The Federal Coordinating Council For Comparative Effectiveness Research, the purpose of which is “to slow the development of new medications and technologies in order to reduce costs.” Yes, this is to be the law.

The plan also outlines that doctors and hospitals will be overseen and reviewed by The National Coordinator For Health Information and Technology.

This “ coordinator” will “monitor treatments being delivered to make sure doctors and hospitals are strictly following government guidelines that are deemed appropriate.” It goes on to say.....”Doctors and hospitals not adhering to guidelines will face penalties.”

According to those in Congress, penalties could include large six figure financial fines and possible imprisonment.

So according to The ObamaCare Plan....if your doctor saves your life you might have to go to the prison to see your doctor for follow -up appointments. I believe this is the same model Stalin used in the former Soviet Union.

Section 102 has the Orwellian title, “Protecting the Choice to Keep Current Coverage.” What this section really mandates is that it is illegal to keep your private insurance if your status changes - e.g., if you lose or change your job, retire from your job and become a senior, graduate from college and get your first job. Yes, illegal.

When Mr. Obama hosted a conference call with bloggers urging them topressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible, a blogger from Maine referenced an Investors Business Daily article that claimed
Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance.

He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” Mr. Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.”

Then there is Section 1233 of The ObamaCare Plan, devoted to “Advanced Care Planning.” After each American turns 65 years of age they have to go to a mandated counseling program that is designed to end life sooner.

This session is to occur every 5 years unless the person has developed a chronic illness then it must be done every year. The topics in this session will include, “how to decline hydration, nutrition and how to initiate
hospice care.” It is no wonder The Obama Administration does not like my emphasis on Prevention. For Mr. Obama, prevention is the “enemy” as people would live longer.

I rest my case. The ObamaCare Plan is hazardous to the health of every American. After I finished my Capitol Hill presentation, I was asked by a Congressman in the question-answer session: “I’ll be doing a number of network interviews on the Obama Health Care Plan. If I am asked what is the one word to describe the plan what should I answer.”

The answer is simple, honest, direct, analytical, sad but truthful. I told him that one word is FASCIST.

Then I added, “I hope you’ll have the courage to use that word, Congressman. No other word is more appropriate.”

How about a robust public debate, a-hole?

Or a robust public reading of the bill?

This is a brilliant move though -- if they lose, they can go back to their districts and say, we tried to get what *you* say you wanted, but were stymied; all the while they'll be thanking their lucky stars that it didn't pass, because it doesn't seem unlikely that anyone voting for the radical anti-American leftist liberal shrill shill version of the bill wouldn't survive until Labor Day. Speaking of which, one of the supermarket tabloid covers claims that Teddy Baby has told his family and friends that he's not going to make it to that first Monday in September.
