Birth of a nation: Too many Americans buy crank theory on Obama's citizenship
New York Daily News ^ | Saturday, August 1st 2009

Posted on 08/01/2009 1:38:58 PM PDT by presidio9

There's Red America, Blue America and Tinfoil Helmet America. And it looks like the third camp is enormously larger than anyone feared.

A new poll, commissioned by the liberal Web site Daily Kos found that fully 11% of Americans think that Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States. And another 12% said that they are unsure.

The doubters are heavily concentrated in the Republican Party, according to pollsters. An amazing 58% of the surveyed Republicans questioned whether Obama, in fact, entered the world in Hawaii.

What this means: Millions of Americans suspect or are convinced that Obama, son of a Kenyan father, is not a citizen and thus cannot legitimately serve as President. And no Hawaiian birth certificate or newspaper announcement from the time will convince them otherwise.

Who are these people? They're the ones whose feet are not planted on U.S. soil - or any soil.

People SAID that Bush had an IQ of 100 Obama has NOT produced his Long Form Birth Certificate.....

Below 100, but that's not my point. My point is that even if you accept that Obama is a citizen (which I do) the left is dishonest about which side has more wingnuts.

You said — I agree that we need to pursue preventative measures for next time.

This is something that will work on Obama, himself...., plus other candidates in the future...

So, when are we going to have you working with us on that state law? :-)

I clicked onto this thread with the intention of saying something very similar to your opening comments. Conservatives chaffed at the accusation that 9/11 was a Bush Plot. If this birth certificate issue gets under the liberals skin it’s okay with me.

tit for tat

I’m with you.
I believe that there is nothing to do about the man being President.

However, if memory serves me right, making ideas that are dangerous to the cause out to be looney is from “Rules for Radicals”

“Birthers” may well be getting too close to the truth.

"Former US Senator obama is not my president. He is an evil and divisive druggie who hates capitalism, hates white people, and hates America. He is the usurper in my White House and a threat to my country, nothing more." Meaning that you reject the Constitution of the United States. In which case, you're less of an American than he is.

No. Meaning that I believe that voters should have to show ID before voting to prevent fraud, that candidates should have to prove they are eligible under the Constitution for a position before being elected, and that the thug in our White House is acting so far outside the enumerated powers listed in the Constitution that he is an enemy of the state and not the leader of our country. I hope that obama voters learn from four years of this socialist experiment. I hope that our country is able to recover from the potentially fatal damage that obama is inflicting. Finally, I hope that in the future we will treat everything in the Constitution, from the requirements to hold office to the powers of the federal government, as if it was the law of the land.

If you want to see the birth certificate, you’re going to have to get that state law passed that I’m talking about. Since it is not a *legal requirement* for a candidate to show his birth certificate, you’re not going to see it — and that’s the reason why you haven’t seen it up to this time...

All we need is a few states passing that law. obama would have to comply and get on the ballot in every state or it would be obvious that the "birthers" are the sane ones.

All he has to do is release the records and all the issues go away.

Until he does, people have the right to be suspicious.

This is a *classic hoax* along the same lines as “Chief Editor Korir” of API (African Press International) who said that Michelle Obama called him and said (on tape) that Obama was born in Kenya. Now, Korir kept that hoax going from before the election (when he was giving it to Fox News) until after the time that Obama was inaugurated.

There has already been a number of FReepers who have found out this guy is a “loon” and is a criminal, and WorldNetDaily has reported that this “loon” never followed through with giving it to them. Also they reported that a sales agent and a lawyer for this loon, *backed out* and said that this nut-case would never answer their questions or verify the document...

I’m surprised you are promoting a *nut-case* and a hoax, where many FReepers have already discovered who this is — i.e., a nut-case and criminal...

As proof, look at the death of investigative journalism.

It's alive and well - in Wasilla Alaska. I just read that Sarah and Todd Palin are getting divorced, that Sarah is Trig's grandmother not Trig's mother, that Sarah and Todd have both had multiple affairs, that ... Oh, nevermind. That's "creative writing" a modification of investigative journalism in which fact checking is frowned upon.

Or a judge could order discovery to open up all of Obama's hidden birth records.

Yeah, I know what you say. You don't believe that will happen... or is that you wish it won't happen.

As time goes on the possibility grows that a court will entertain discovery.

I am not promoting the guy any more than any one else is promoting whatever they post.

I agree he is either mentally ill, or a crook ,or both....

but he is part of the whole story and should not be forgotten

And “folks” (i.e., you FReepers) let’s “get on board” with this state law and “work it” like it should be. I have no idea why there is very little support for getting a law that would *make it mandatory* for Obama to show his birth certificate.

Take a look at that other thread I’ve already given here...

I have posted previously the same idea, that we need a few states to pass a law requiring proof of Constitutional eligibility before being included on a ballot.

That said, I wonder exactly what it is that keeps Soetoro from releasing the long form. It is not simply because no law requires him to. No law requires him to breathe, either. I’m guessing he’s all the way non-eligible, that he wasn’t born in the US.

Hence, we have two autobiographies that acquaint us with the notion that Soetoro has had presidential aspirations since he was 5, that he taught Constitutional Law, and that he once found his birth certificate while rummaging around in a box of documents. This is window dressing. It’s all undone by his one profound statement that the Constitution is an imperfect document. What would make it perfect is if it didn’t make him ineligible to run for the highest office. Enough stink has to be raised to prevent him from seeking a second term.

With President Bush you had evidence of his background. Ever flown a plane? You have to be pretty special to fly F-102 fighters. He also had a couple of college degrees. So you can use basic logic to determine that President Bush was in fact, pretty intelligent

In contrast, there's Obama, who's touted as the most brilliant man ever, and since we see nothing to verify this, ever, just himself and his sycophants crowing about it, then we can also make a basic logical deduction.

Add to that the fact that he has over the past 6 months, shown a propensity to lie, and we draw further conclusions.

The anti-Christ Obama is NOT my president.

He is an evil minion of Satan.

I have no idea where he was born (although Hell seems a reasonable guess).

He is a fascist and a tyrant-in-waiting. I give him no more allegiance than a German should have given Hitler in 1933.

I have been, but you already know that... :-) [Oklahoma...]

But, I can’t call it a “movement” — because I haven’t seen very many people “moving” on it...

See this other thread for some people who have — just barely — started talking about it...

(Vanity Post) We Need One State To Challenge Obambi’s Status

Apparently there are four states who have had bills like this — Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, Texas [I didn’t know about Texas until today...]
