Media ignores Truthers in favor of Birthers.
The Washington Examiner ^ | 8/03/09 | David Freddoso

Posted on 08/03/2009 10:26:11 AM PDT by drunner2

Twenty-eight percent of Republicans believe President Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States, and 30 percent are "not sure," according to this poll.

But before liberals begin to smirk, here's a poll from 2007, in which 35 percent of Democrats said that President Bush knew in advance about the 9/11 attacks, and 26 percent were not sure.

So if 58 percent of Republicans are living in a delusional fantasy world because they are out of power, then 61 percent of Democrats were doing the same thing until just recently (perhaps they still are). It's a clean, apples-to-apples comparison with a clear lesson: People get a bit kooky when they're out of power, Democrats about 3 points kookier -- which is probably within the margin of error.

[...]

The Birthers are getting an awful lot of coverage right now, and that's great news for a White House desperate for distractions. President Obama is losing the public opinion battle over health care and putting his foot in his mouth over Henry Gates.

[...]

Tamryn then asked a good question: Back in the Bush Era, did any Democratic members of Congress avoid questions about whether "Bush Knew?" On the spot, I couldn't remember. But the truth is, they didn't just avoid the question -- they stoked the flames of conspiracy theories and in some cases embraced them.

A few names: Hillary Clinton (the famous Bush Knew" speech of May 16, 2002), Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, and then-Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D, Ga.). When I covered Congress for Human Events, I asked Rep. William Lacy Clay, D,Mo., about McKinney's suggestion that Bush might have withheld knowledge of the attack. His reply: "I'm curious as to whether it will reveal what Congresswoman McKinney has stated. I'm interested. I'm interested in an investigation."

Until ObaMao actually shows a genuine birth certificate, “Not Sure” is the most correct answer. Since he has spent millions of dollars to avoid doing so, not believing he has one is a perfectly reasonable response as well.

In fact, the only illogical response is actually believing he has one, at this point.

Apples to apples? In one case, 3000 Americans died within a hour or so. In the other case, we have a congress/admin pushing crap-n-steal, health scare, Israel scare, stimuli to the trillion wazoo, gates-gate, zelayagate, clunkergate, and who knows what else. Apples to apples?

David Freddoso does not get it.

The public is not tuning in to the birth certificate story because they are wackos but because they are disillusioned with Barak Obama and that makes them receptive. The story is not diverting attention from Obamas disastrous agenda which is potentially costing us at the ballot box, rather people are paying attention because of their disillusionment with his disastrous agenda.

Fedderoso, go pound sand. Any similarities between truthers’ complex, byzantine conspiracy of Bush being behind 911 and the ABSOLUTE FACT THAT OBAMA REFUSES TO RELEASE HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE is strictly in your frickin imagination.

The Dirthers also spread a false rumor this weekend of a pending Sarah Palin divorce.

The media is biased.

Those that are certain that 0bama is 100% qualified, make this assessment based on what? A fake birth certificate posted on the internet, intuition, 0bama's word? My guess is wishful thinking.

They must be the ones that have large holdings of stock for the Brooklyn Bridge.

I’m going out on a limb here and make the claim that if two planes rammed into skyscrapers today that very few Freepers (perhaps only the ones who left racist posts) would imagine that Obama would have known in advance.

I might go so far as to think Obama could think it was fair for us to be attacked because of all the evil we did in the past according to Rev. Wright, but I would need some pretty hard evidence to think he knew and allowed it.

As for the BC conspiracy theorists, I believe many would hang on to the theory regardless of the evidence thinking it would somehow cause Obama’s removal. However, there is something amiss in that Obama refuses to release something to verify something so basic to his eligibility to be elected president. Each day that passes increases my suspicions.

In any event, there is a wide gap between folks who think Obama has something to hide and folks who think Bush allowed planes to ram the WTC.

On one side you have a group that no one, Liberal or Conservative, give any credit to, and on the other hand, you have another group who is strongly supported by the Right even if the Left despise them.

And someone is surprised that one group gets more attention in the MSM than the other?

Whats next? Wondering why the moon hoaxer don’t get the same recognition as Birthers?

WTF kind of stupid article is that... And who care if the MSM talk negatively about “birthers”? At least it get people’s mind on the birth issue... Who want that to happen with 9/11 or the moon landing?

They can talk about us in good or bad, but at least they talk about us!

I have just one question for the MSM, including Fox News:

What happened to “We report, you decide?”

Looks to me that they’ve decided without reporting. They display the COLB and refer to the official statements from Hawaii, but not one of them has even mentioned the issue of Obama’s British citizenship at birth. That’s not conspiracy. It’s not conjecture. It’s not speculation. It’s just the facts, ma’am.
