WASHINGTON — Six Texas congressmen are in the middle of a summertime political tempest sweeping the nation's capital over legislation to require future presidential candidates to show birth certificates to prove they are “natural born citizens” of the United States eligible to serve as president.

Part of the problem is that there are plenty on the right who would love to see the Natural born requirement disappear. Too busy wanting their own way to think about the consequences.

Pete Hoekstra might make a great president but if he could win, so could George Soros.

“The MSM is playing up this story to make us look bad. I’m am not arguing for or against the subject, but it sure makes us look bad as portrayed by the MSM.”

And you think that without this issue the MSM would see us as good? The MSM sees everyone to the right of Marx as an enemy to be destroyed. No issue or question will effect that.

Excuse me Mr. Boortz but lacking a firm grasp of basic logic is what makes one an idiot. The facts are that Obama has not proven who he is and where he was born.

You would think that every non-idiot would want to know the most basic information about the man who now inhabits the most powerful office on Earth with the power to transform our lives.

His origins are intentionally shrouded in mystery. A president could not hid his origins unless it was done intentionally. It is impossible in this day and age.

My neighbor has a beagle that barks all the time at everything and everyone. It’s practically impossible to ignore him.

I guess there is a certain logic to calling the Texas bill stupid. After all, you seemingly don't need to provide any identification to vote for a Presidential candidate, why should a Presidential candidate have to provide their proof of Constitutional eligibility.

What if he just ignores it, and lets people donate?

In the last 2 months, I have started listening to Boortz instead of Laura Ingram. I heard his diatribe on “birthers” and I haven't listened to him since. Does Boortz have proof that Zero is actually a "natural born citizen"? If he does, he should reveal it. Otherwise, he is just espousing his beliefs, not facts and criticizing us for wanting to know the truth.

I don't know if Obama is legitimate or not. But since Zero has locked up all of this public records and will not release his birth certificate and has spent perhaps millions of dollars fighting lawsuits to release it, I have to assume that he is hiding something. I guess none of this worries Boortz.

Signed, Former Listener.

By the way, we are not “birthers”, we are Constitutionalists.

>>If there’s nothing to this whole birth thing, why is everyone paying attention? Why aren’t they just ignoring us?<<

Because the sane conservatives want to make sure everyone knows they’ve got nothing to do with it.

Oh yeah, Boortz was bashing the Tea Party movement less than 2 months ago until he figured he could sell some of his Fair Tax books to them, then he jumped on the Tea Party wagon.

Hey Boortz, guess what? It’s the same people who are involved in the Tea Parties who are also looking for some transparency on the birth certificate issue.

I think a lot of the reaction from the right is based on the shock factor that a President could be elected that is ineligible for POTUS

The constitutional crisis that would occur, possible riots, and a jar to their very core that someone actually usurped their way into the office of POTUS -- it's too much to fathom for them. Heck, it is a big shock, and maybe they're not prepared for it, thus their reaction of trying to brush it off as "just nuts".

And you think that without this issue the MSM would see us as good? The MSM sees everyone to the right of Marx as an enemy to be destroyed. No issue or question will effect that.

Other conservatives don't give a whit about what the media thinks - but they sure as heck they care about what the American people think.

Right now Republicans & conservatives are trying to get across the message to voters that this health care bill, Obama's obscene debt creation, his reckless foreign policy and his wholesale takeover of the private economy are bad for the country now & bad for the future of this republic.

Just after the details of Obama's death care bill was leaked out of Congress & Obama stuck his racist nose in the Gates affair, his ratings started heading into the toilet. Rasmussen had his approval index at 13, if I recall correctly.

Like clockwork, the MSM trotted out the birther issue from the bottom of the pile & back up to the front of the page again to show Americans just how loonily gullible all those who are opposed to this President's governing policies really are.

The Obama shills in the MSM are using birthers to discredit the entire conservative agenda with the very people whose support we need to counter this POTUS' ambitions to turn tis nation into an Alinsky-style Banana Republic, don't you see that?

And who can blame them? The fact is, it's proven repeatedly to be a quite effective gambit to distract the American people from Obama's anti-american, anti-capitalist agenda: as of this morning, his index is back up to seven.

And don't you know, next time Barack Obama gets in a PR fix, another Birth Certificate from God knows where will be sure to mysteriously land on Orly Taitz' desk so that birthers can put on yet another sectacle of what the rest of the country will surely view as their hyperpartisan gullibility yet again. Like clockwork.

Why doesn't “O” just P R O D U C E the f’n thing?!!!

It's not in his best interest nor the best interest of his Alinskesque agenda to produce it right now as long as he can use the Birthers & all of their mysterious foreign Birth Certificates of dubious provenance to make all of his opposition look stupid, unserious and not worthy of the American people's trust on other issues.

>>> Boortz is the idiot.

Based on things I’ve heard him say on the radio,
I’m not sure he’s a believer in God.

That makes him a fool as well.

Why does Neal Boortz think something so fundamentally Constitutional is meaningless? Is being a natural born citizen a requirement (in Boortz’ mind) or not?

No matter the outcome, is this the period in time in our nation’s history where we go from being a nation of laws to a nation of men? After all, Obama brought his Chicago thuggish pay to play system with him to Chicago.

This does remind me of the Clinton years where every violation was treated with a “so what” and if you pointed out the Constitution and the laws broken you’d get a “who cares” for a follow up. Last night, Bill O’Reilly basically said “nobody cares” when Chris Ruddy mentioned all the other documents (in addition to the birth certificate) that Obama hasn’t released. I didn’t know the law and knowledge was based on uninformed people “caring”???

Speaking as one, I gotta admit a lot of ‘em (us) are. Screaming “hoax!” or “proof!” on sight at everything relevant, pronouncing authoritative declarations of malice at every easily & rationally explained tidbit (”the pixels are wrong!” “he’s a laundry detergent!” “I found the template! (which is radically different)” etc.), and generally frothing at the mouth over everything BC-related, yes an awful lot of “birthers” are indistinguishable from “truthers” and other conspiracy-theory twits.

That’s not to say there isn’t a legitimate question, which is prompting legitimate research and legitimate conclusions.

Unfortunately, there is so much mindless hysteria swarming the subject that the truth is being suffocated by the pile-on of raging twits ... and this mess is (A) making the Right look bad, and (B) is being spun to BHO’s advantage. At this rate he’ll never release his long-form BC - not because there’s anything wrong with it, but because not doing so is politically advantageous to confounding his enemies a la Sun-Tzu.

People are paying attention because of morbid curiosity and the pleasure of justified annoyance. Best thing the Left can do is shine spotlights on the issue, obfuscated by impassioned believers, grossing everyone out until nobody wants to hear any more about it - so that when/if proof is found, nobody will care.

I want to see the Kenyan BC too. I want it proved. I also want everyone who doesn’t understand the details to shut the he11 up and quit blathering on about what they plainly don’t know.
