Dems rip Limbaugh's use of Nazi symbol
Politico ^

Posted on 08/06/2009 3:34:47 PM PDT by steven33442

It's been awhile since any high profile politicians or pundits have compared their opponents to Nazis.

So Rush Limbaugh has filled that void today, saying that President Obama's campaign symbol looks like a swastika.

He's got video and graphics up on his web site right now to make his case.

And whenever someone in politics compares the other side to Nazis, the other side is sure to express outrage.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokeswoman Jennifer Crider:

“Rush Limbaugh’s comparison of the Democratic Party to the Nazi Party in World War II is as disgusting as it is shocking," Crider said. "Limbaugh’s use of the Nazi swastika in attempting to make a tasteless political comparison has no place in the public discourse."

The headline makes it sound as though El Rushbo is walking around with a Nazi symbol on his golf jacket or something.

“New FCC ‘Chief Diversity Officer’ Co-Wrote Liberal Group’s ‘Imbalance of Political Talk Radio’”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2310023/posts

“...new “Chief Diversity Officer,” communications attorney Mark Lloyd....rails against the fact that the American people overwhelmingly prefer to listen to conservative (and Christian) talk radio rather than the liberal alternative, and suggests ways the federal government can remedy this free-market created “problem.” “

Yikes!! They are working fast and furious to silence any and all descent!!!

"The NAZIS .... were NATIONALISTS... right wingers are FEDERALISTS! A federalist want smaller pockets of government that the citizens can control. A nationalist (like liberals) want a larger centralized single government."

Exactly correct. Hitler disbanded the German States, disbanded the nobility and created a unified State. This is exactly why today's Germany is the Federal Republic of Germany. The 1949 constitution of Germany specifically aimed to divide powers to prevent a centralized State. The constitution re-founded German States (Bavaria, North-Rhein Westphalia, etc.), abolished the dominating State of Prussia.

The former German Democratic Republic (East Germany) was split into several new German States and added to the Federal Republic.

So, the reaction to Hitler's centralism lasts to this day in Germany, which has maintained the freedom of its citizens for a longer period than any German State in history.

Gosh, the reader comments following the Politico piece are fascinating. Interesting to see such a good balance and so many folks who are quick to educate those who don't know their history enough to know what Nazism really was. I read "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" cover to cover; its author, journalist William Shirer, was one of the few decent real jouralists to ever live, and at that he was hardly a conservative -- but reading that book tells you that Rush's comparisons are right on the money and historically correct. One hundred percent.

I'm always blown away by knee-jerkers who consider Rush a racist. One of his most popular guests hosts is a black guy; his major right-hand in-the-studio guy and call screener, Mr. Snerdly, is black. Rush often gets callers who identify themselves as black, and a very large number of them are "dittoheads."

It's interesting to note that a disporportionately high percentage of THE most eloquent voices in conservatism -- Thomas Sowell topping (IMO) the list of the finest conservative thinkers in America, plus Walter Williams, Star Parker, Larry Elder (and Larry's DAD ... what a MAN!), DeRoy Murdock, Clarence Thomas, and all kinds of other columnists whose names have escaped me; plus many small-station talk show hosts I've come across in my radio travels and been impressed by how much more closely their versions of conservatism resonate with me (a whitey northern-European type) that the likes of Hannity, Hewitt, Medved, Ingraham, who send weak signals indeed in terms of conservatism ... it makes me wonder if the cultural experiences of thinking, intelligent people who are black don't predispose them to being the most spot-on conservatives in the movement.

I don’t know, if it was Goebbels or someother top Nazi, but they said a communist could make a good Nazi, but a Liberal (classical liberal, libertarian, conservative) never would.
