Dems rip Limbaugh's use of Nazi symbol
Politico ^

Posted on 08/06/2009 3:34:47 PM PDT by steven33442

It's been awhile since any high profile politicians or pundits have compared their opponents to Nazis.

So Rush Limbaugh has filled that void today, saying that President Obama's campaign symbol looks like a swastika.

He's got video and graphics up on his web site right now to make his case.

And whenever someone in politics compares the other side to Nazis, the other side is sure to express outrage.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokeswoman Jennifer Crider:

“Rush Limbaugh’s comparison of the Democratic Party to the Nazi Party in World War II is as disgusting as it is shocking," Crider said. "Limbaugh’s use of the Nazi swastika in attempting to make a tasteless political comparison has no place in the public discourse."

I agree with you that Libs and Nazis have something in common.

To a certain extent, what do you think the demonization of Wall Street is all about? Like the movie industry, certain groups think Jews run it.

There may be a few who hate Wall Street for that reason, but I think Obama and some Wall Street banksters are on the same side. Goldman Sachs gave $1M to the Obama campaign, lobbies for Crap and Trade, and is getting ready to rob all of us via "carbon credits."

Paulson, Corzine, Liddy, Thain, and Patterson are not Jewish names. Not sure about Kashkari, I would guess it's not either. I am not anti-Semetic nor anti-wealth, I am anti-Ferengi.

I know of no liberals who supported the Nazis during World War II.

Perhaps not, because during WWII, Americans were the Nazis' enemies. But prior to WWII, many liberals admired and supported the Nazis and Hitler, John Kennedy's father, for one. Also, though I don't know his political affiliation, I remember clearly that Charles Lindburgh was an admirer of Hitler.

guess for the purpose of some people Nazi=”People that I really dislike” In that case, yes, Nazis are liberals and vise versa.

Buddy, you really need to bone-up on your pre-WWII and WWII history. Your statement above is ONLY correct if you delete the word "some" and insert the word "ignorant" in front of "people" so it reads: "I guess for the purpose of ignorant people ..."

May I recommend first reading Herman Wouk's excellent novels, Winds of War and War and Remembrance, which while fiction, are historically correct and very well researched. (The TV miniseries, while good, doesn't remotely cover the detailed history as the books do). After reading them, read "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer -- it's easier and more interesting to read when you're coming from the solid background that Wouk provides.

Until you educate yourself, however, you're talking out your ass when you express outrage at VERY appropriate historical comparisons between the Democrat party in America today, and the Nazis' rise to power in pre-WWII Germany.

The main reason for the existence of the Nazi Party was for the extermination of the Jews.

This kind of misconception comes from watching too many made-for-TV documentaries and not reading enough in-depth books on the REAL history of Nazism. *sigh*

Steven, educate yourself.

Steven's post 77: The main reason for the existence of the Nazi Party was for the extermination of the Jews. Any other ideology or tactics they invoked was just basically window dressing to accomplish aforementioned goal. Look, I dislike Obama as much as any one here on this board but for goodness sake, Obama isn’t a Nazi. sheeesh

Steven's post 105: Obama is an extreme leftist. He is very scary as far as I am concerned, and I am Jewish. I know of no Jews who served in Hitler’s Cabinet, perhaps you can enlighten me on that. I know Obama has quite a few Jewish Cabinet members and key appointees.

SUSSA wrote to Steven: Hey Crider, you shmendrik, the Democrat party is just like the Nazi Party of the late ‘30s.

And poor old Steven is just like the German jews of the late '30s -- naive and gullible.

Oh, I see. You want FReepers to educate you -- you don't want to take responsibility for it yourself; when somebody calls you on how uninformed you clearly are, you whine "why even bother posting?" You want I should post "Rise and Fall" in its entirety here?

You're lazy, dear. Plain and simple.

Say what you will about the Nazis, but they most assuredly were not liberals.

“But too many people here seem to be taking Limbaugh literally, they seem to think that Rush really thinks Obama and Pelosi are true Nazis. Of course, the whole thing is hilarious . . .”

He does. If it walks like a duck and squawks like a duck, it’s a duck.
