President Obama's announcement of his selection of Ron Bloom as "manufacturing czar" follows the weekend resignation of Van Jones, the White House "green jobs czar" who had come under fire in recent weeks for past inflammatory statements.
As one White House "czar" departs amid a cloud of controversy, an undeterred President Obama is naming a new one to advise him on manufacturing, defying conservative critics who have raised concerns about these advisory positions that do not require congressional oversight.
Obama chose a Labor Day union picnic on Monday as the backdrop to announce his selection of Ron Bloom, a member of his auto industry task force, as senior counselor for manufacturing policy. Bloom planned to travel to Cincinnati with Obama for an afternoon announcement at the AFL-CIO event.

I’m sure that Mr. Bloom will enable the US auto industry to turn out Trabants even faster than the East Germans did.
Manufacturing czar? WTH is a manufacturing czar if not a way of controlling the means of production?
Hitler and Stalin had manufacturing czars (in all but name) - free countries somehow get by without them.
I wonder when the Congress will figure out they are being usurped. Hey even Democrats care about their power, which is everything when you are a politburo member.
Notice the new czar has no experience either, just another union thug.
Bloom, is this where the term Blommin´ Idiot comes from? I’d be real cautious going into this job, knowing what happen in the game of political life that surrounds Pennsylvania Ave on it’s game plan to wreck the economy, so they can bring Gov’t control into every sector.
America leads the world in Czar-manufacturing.
Oh... THIS is going to play well...
Do, re, do, mi, re, ti, la, so....
Oh damn is Obammy tone deaf.
Pelosi and Reid screamed everytime Bush did ANYTHING without first calling up congress and now this fool has what, 40 czars, and all Pelosi does is grin like the Joker’s sidekick - the botox treatments ARE melting her brain!
Honestly, 1 could see this another way.
Uhbama is so incompetent that he instinctively feels the need to surround himself with "experts" as well as bodies to handle what he just can't.
Obama put Bloom in as Car Czar in July, replacing Steve Rattner, whose equity company has been under SEC investigation.
Now he makes Bloom Manufacturing Czar less than two months later? The Obama administration seems to be ground zero for The Peter Principle World.
Is this Obama’s idea of trying to put the Bloom back on the rose?
Like I said before he got elected ..... Obama will govern like an African style dictator. Copying the ways of his socialist daddy. Obama has spent his entire life copying his absent father. Seeking approval from a daddy who was never even there.

Have they released their Five Year Plan yet?
“Oh da** is Obammy tone deaf.”
I truly believe he is not tone deaf and this latest appointment is to show us that he is “in charge”, not us.
Congress is supposed to investigate and vote on approval for them, but Congress has ceased to function. The democrat Congress has given up its Constitutional power and responsibilities, just as it rubber stamps unread vast thousand page laws written by Communist Front groups.
He could save some money if he’d just fire the regular cabinet. Of course that would require a Cabinet Czar.
“I wonder when the Congress will figure out they are being usurped.”
This is pretty astounding. You’d think at least one intelligent Democrat would go: “You know, do I want this policy to be in place when a Republican takes office?”
Whether allies or not, these czars are definitely circumventing Congress’ authority. Sooner or later, the other side gets to do it, too. Incremental socialism - begun by Bush 1, added to by Clinton, escalated by Bush 2, and now in the hands of a border-line communist.
Thanks guys...
Ed Montgomery replaced Steve Rattner.
Czars are not “advisors”, they have given czars actual power with huge amounts of money. They need to be made accountable.
FDR did something similar too for a while
Excellent post. My thoughts exactly.
I thought that was with his idea of stacking SCOTUS with leftards. Our current man-child is certainly being in-your-face about this czar thing, but please . . . STOP THE CZARS!!!
As soon as they read the Constitution and see that the word "Czar" isn't anywhere to be found.
In other words, after it's too late for them to do anything about it except call in the fat lady to sing.
Obama sees himself as the next FDR. One of his Czars - Cass Sunstein actually wrote a book saying that it’s time for the second part of the new deal and that FDR did not go far enough the first time.
Democrats always seem to think they will last in the majority forever.
He might as well go all out and name a Politbureau too.
So then, THIS never happened:

I thought Montgomery was the Director of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers.

That position was called the Car Czar by some, but later Rattner was appointed Car Czar and then replaced, in July, by Bloom.
If Robert McNamara was still alive, he could be the “Effective Use of New Weapon Systems Czar.”
Watchdog group calls for investigation of Adolfo Carrion, Bronx pres. tapped as Obama’s urban czar

The News’ reported numerous developers made tens of thousands of dollars in campaign donations to Carrión around the same time he was considering approving their projects in the Bronx.
Carrión also hired an architect for one of the biggest projects to design a renovation of his home. The job was complete in February 2007, but Carrión has not paid the architect.
The White House has repeatedly declined to comment on the News’ findings except to say Carrión should pay the bill, which is slightly over $3,600.
Crew asked Holder “to initiate an immediate investigation into pay-to-play allegations” outlined in The News.
“It appears Mr. Carrión routinely approved development projects in exchange for campaign contributions,” Sloan said.
“In addition, Mr. Carrión personally benefitted by accepting free design work from an architect who needed his official assistance. This is exactly the kind of conduct that makes Americans skeptical of our politicians.”
I’m surprised (well maybe not) that the Pubbies aren’t making hay with all these unconstitutional appointments. Glen Beck has done their reseach for them they need to run with it.

At least one Democrat has complained too- Robert Byrd (KKK-WV)
hehe. Urrrrrrrbama.
Remember that OBOZO has NVER don a “BLOOMING THING” in his entire LIFE! No Pun Intended! The POS can’t even find his own Birth Certificate! OBOZO has his CZAR of the TOILET! “REGGIE LOVE!” so why NOT a CZAR of BLOOMING!
I have been looking and looking, yet I can’t find anything on their power or scope of authority, their control over money or budgets, not even who they report to or liaison with, if they fall under the protections of the “Executive”, nor how much we are paying them for their Social/Marxist “advice”.
Do you have any links to share?
Thanks
I am not the Czar watcher. There are some sites and FReepers out there trying to get a handle on them. I thought I saw that some of them were paid pretty well though.
I’ll keep an eye out and get back to you.
bookmarked for later

You can see the czars by searching for “COMPLETE LIST OF CZARS” on google. I couldn’t copy the url. This is Glenn Beck’s list as of July 20.
I see there is an updated list of czars right above my reply. The Glenn Beck list gives more information about each one for those who are interested. Tells which agency could have handled the area, and salary, when known, plus much more stuff about the people themselves.
See hint below in reply 46. Tells whom they report to, salary, etc.
Thanks, that will help with my table.
Yep, that’s at least twice as many “czars” as Russia had.
