Dog Coat Varieties Come from a 'Surprisingly' Elegant Program
ICR ^ | September 8, 2009 | Brian Thomas, M.S.

Posted on 09/08/2009 12:25:03 PM PDT by GodGunsGuts

The vast majority of dog breeds have emerged only in the last several centuries as a result of artificial selection. As new breeds are regularly developed, the many potential varieties within the dog kind are revealed. One distinction among breeds is their unique coats. Recent genetics analysis found that a huge range of dog fur textures are specified almost entirely by just three genes....

If you read the article, it strengthens the argument from design, as well as demonstrating that the many varieties of canine coat color descended from an original kind, and said coat color variations can easily fit within the time limits of a recent creation.

All the best—GGG

When I read the title of the thread, I thought it was going to be about dog accessories (like little coats) being made out of rabbit fur. ;-)

My puppy has white walls along the side of her body.

Can't beat the softness of the coat of a laborador.

Oooooo....haven't read any Brian Thomas *MS nonsense in a while...errr......a week.

...within the dog kind...

OK....so "dogs" are a "kind"....how many other "kinds" are there....exactly? Soon as you properly define a "kind", progress can be made. For instance...what "kind" of animals that survived the Flood by being on the Ark was the Tyrannosaurus rex? The Pterodactyl?

Brian, Brian, Brian....takes more than 3 genes to determine the coat of a dog. This guy found 3 genes that determined JUST the hair type. There's also hair color, the number of guard hairs in the topcoat....lots of things other than just 3 variables. Awwwww....but then you'd have nothing to BS about.

When I learned it, there were 5 genes controlling human skin color....what's that say to YOU, Brian Thomas, *MS?

Scientists who take God’s Word seriously are constrained to interpret the emergence of the wide variety of dog kinds as having occurred in the last 4,000 or so years

Stop the presses.....now each dog SPECIES is a "kind." Please give the proper definition of "kind." Does "kind" now equate to "species"??? I can only deduce it does, making it strange that T. rex wasn't a "kind" of its own....bringing me back to wondering why there wasn't a pair of T. rexes on the Ark as God commanded.

First, the genetic programming for the majority of dog features, especially in regards to essential biological functions, remains intact in each viable generation. However, the programming responsible for certain non-essential traits—traits that, if varied, might confer better survivability to that kind in differing environments—allows genes to be “shuffled” in order to produce that variety.

WOW....such intelligence. One can shuffle more insignificant-to-viability genes more than genes for, say, proper reproductive organ development. What a show-stopper!!!

Thus...

Translated: Here comes the false conclusion....

There are no dogs.

The Tyrannosaurs on the ark ate them all.

Thus was developed low Chinese cuisine.

Here’s the last line from the article:

“See? Just like it says in Genesis! The End!”

Creation “science” is a fraud to which Christians of weak faith cling desperately. I say that as a Christian who suffers from no such delusions.

==Creation “science” is a fraud to which Christians of weak faith cling desperately. That means alot coming from an evo-atheist who goes around pretending to be a Christian. Let me know if you ever change your mind and are willing to confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Until then, buzz-off imposter!
