Creationists Say Science and Bible Disprove 'Ardi' Fossil Is Evidence of Evolution (ABC News)

Discovery of 4.4 Million-Year-Old Fossil Does Not Shake Creationists' Faith

By RUSSELL GOLDMAN

Oct. 7, 2009

Sometimes an ape is a 4.4 million-year-old fossil that sheds light on the evolutionary origins of human beings, and sometimes… an ape is just an ape.

In the case of "Ardi," the ape-like fossil recently discovered in Ethiopia and already being celebrated as the oldest found relative of modern human beings, the final determination depends on who is doing the talking.

In one camp are evolutionary scientists who last week published and hailed the discovery of an upright walking ape named Ardipithecus ramidus, or "Ardi" for short, who made Ethiopia her home nearly 5 million years ago.

But despite the excitement from the paleontology community, another group of researchers, many of them with advanced degrees in science, are unimpressed by Ardi, who they believe is just another ape...

That would be nice to know but not necessary to make good use of the program (information).

Is there any necessity in declaring it to be the caused by intelligence to make good use of it?

“Is there any necessity in declaring it to be the caused by intelligence to make good use of it? “

No. No more than declaring it must be by naturalistic means to make good use of it. We’re making good use of it now without knowing these things. But I repeat myself to answer your repetitive questions. If you have a point would you go ahead and make it.

How will declaring it to be "caused by intelligence" affect the research? If it isn't going to affect the way we approach the research one way or another, why do you think it's important to do it?

“Creationists have much...the amazing, numerical dna code which is more complex than a computer code to name one. It simply must have been created by a very intelligent being...that’s is simply a logical fact.

That’s the most retarded thing I’ve read today so far. I don’t expect that to change until after midnight.

More repetitive questions. If the information is caused by an intelligence agent (or not), this does not impact the approach to the research on the information or how to use it. It’s important to do the research to learnand make applications how to use the information.

Do you have an alternative explanation on how the information in DNA originated?

No. Now, what do you have that you didn't have before?

“Now, what do you have that you didn’t have before? “

If you mean from discussion with you, nothing really. You didn’t bring anything to discuss, just gatlin gun questions that wandered here and there.

Okay, to recap:

You asked where the transitional fossils are.

I asked you to describe what a transitional fossil would look like, so we’d know what we were looking for.

You said that meant I didn’t have any proof.

I pointed out that you hadn’t yet said what “proof” would look like, and asked again.

And now you refer me to a post that links to a TalkOrigins FAQ about transitional vertebrate fossils. Does this mean you accept that all the fossils described in the FAQ are in fact transitionals, and so you withdraw your question? If not, what’s you point?

Are you sure you’re up to an FR crevo thread?

What did finding out that I don’t have an alternate explanation get you? What do you have now that you didn’t have before that’s of any use in your research? Anything?

You thought it was important to answer the question about "intelligence". It's been answered. Now, what's been accomplished by the effort?

More Gatlin Gun questions. What was the answer? What was the question even? Which time? How many times? Does it make sense? What are you going to do about it? How will you use it? What are you going to do with it? Does it make you feel better? Why do you just sit around pondering? Aren’t you going to investigate? Why not? Shouldn’t you? What good does it do? What’s the meaning of it all? I don’t answer question or discuss, I just ask questions?

If you want good answers, you have to ask the right questions.

I think it’s more like I need to ask them to the right person. You don’t answer questions, you just ask them and they don’t stay on topic.

I’ll ask how a particular line of inquiry is going to produce useful information before I commit to pursuing it.

I see...do you know the complex nature of the bodily functions that the dna code is responsible for? Have you read much about the dna code? You certainly do not sound like you know what you are saying.
