The human body is built for running (and Richard Dawkins develops a crack in his misotheist armor!)
Science Literature Blog ^ | October 29, 2009 | David Tyler, Ph.D.

Alongside all the public interest in sporting prowess, recent research has added significantly to our knowledge of how the human body actually works. Many characteristics we take for granted now appear to be critical success factors. Take, for example, our toes. We do not need long toes, like monkeys and apes, because our toes are not used for grasping branches. But are they vestigial - withered remnants of once-grand appendages? The answer is: most definitely not! Whilst it is possible to walk comfortably with longer toes, running is different. Increase toe length by just 20% and there is a doubling of the peak digital flexor impulses and the mechanical work required.

It emerges that the human body has numerous traits that all support the ability to run...

Yes.

But I think you might still be missing the big picture.

The runner with perfect leg structure will survive longer because:

A. he won’t develop chronic pain and joint problems and will need less recuperation time.
B. he won’t burn as many calories because he will be able to run with less effort, therefore he can get by on less food and thus fewer deer

Not being able to catch the deer isn’t really an issue, imo, because...even more important than man’s superior foot is man’s superior brain. he will get a deer if he wants one. One way or another. It’s more about how much prep time and strategic planning invested beforehand, and what he’s got left in him after the deer is caught that can be utilized for other endeavors.

I was hitting the abuse button because a certain mod likes to banish Creation/ID posts to the backwater sections of FR. Speaking of which, my post is back in its rightful place, which is probably like a splash of freezing water on your already cold face.

I've told you before. If you don't post them in News/Activism or give me a ping, I feel like my day is missing something. Not seeing you around tonight, I decided to do a check to see what happened.

Jim Robinson has granted Creationists and IDers to post ARN

Come now. You know there aren't any IDers within a thousand miles of FR.

Horses can’t out distance a human. Not even close. Even an average specimen human in top health can walk a domestic horse to death.

As I have told you many times, I have several on my list. Indeed, an IDer contacted me just a few days ago to recommend Stephen Meyers new book on the origin of DNA, Signature in the Cell.

"Yes, I’m sure you speak for jackbooted evos everywhere. Unfortunately for fascist evo-atheists like yourself, the owner of FR knows the score, having watched your evo-atheist ACLU minions ban Creation and ID from our schools, universities, government research, and the MSM. He has thus designated FR as a place where the Christian Right can have an equal voice with the rest of the conservative movement. So at least on this enclave of freedom and liberty in cyberspace, you are just going to have get used to us, or take your totalitarian self elsewhere."

Your threats do not intimidate me and your name calling only reveals your petty nature. If anyone here is displaying fascist behahior it would be you. If you are such a confidant of Jim Robinson why do you get so many mod actions and warnings? Why don't you have him send me a private message to outline your special status. If you can't it will only confirm that you are just a blustering blowhard. If you can't take the heat of public discussions, stay out of the kitchen.

Do you suffer from some memory deficiency or some over inflated sense of importance that leads you to believe that the only thing of any relevance is that which is posted by you? I don't owe you any explanations, but as I have stated in discussions with you on many occasions I am NOT an atheist, I am a devout Catholic. I am not an "evo", I believe in Theistic Evolution as the process God used to create the universe and man.

As for my conservative credentials I am an Army vet and former combat infantryman. I voted for every Republican presidential candidate since the 60's except Nixon whom I thought was too liberal. I did NOT send my children to public schools, I sent them to Catholic schools K through grad school, because I do not agree that those with values I disagree with should be involved in the education or shaping of my children.

I wasn't disputing the advantage of human anatomy, I was relating it to natural selection.

Even an average specimen human in top health can walk a domestic horse to death.

Maybe, if the horse has a saddle and rider. It has happened, but mostly the horse and rider win.

I work with a group of very intelligent engineers. Logging in to see your thread serves to renormalize my thinking on how big the intelligence gap in the world is.

I didn’t clame to be a close confidant of Jim Robinson’s. All I am going on is his express wishes that Creation and ID posts be allowed in News/Activism. He hasn’t just said this once, but many times, as I am sure you well know.

Thank you for your service. I too served in the USMC...as did my father, as did my father’s father.

As for the rest of your diatribe...ignored.
