Personal responsibility is not politically popular among many democrat voters, because it takes hard work, patience, and self-discipline. RAT voters want government benefits, immediately, as long as they don’t have to pay for them through direct taxes. Thus the RAT politicians are trying to move the country farther away from personal responsibility for their immediate political benefit.

* You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

* You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

* You cannot help little men by tearing down big men.

* You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

* You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

* You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.

* You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

* You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

* You cannot build character and courage by destroying men’s initiative and independence.

* And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.

According to Wikipedia - which often gets it wrong - this quote is from William John Henry Boetcker, a Presbyterian minister, and not Lincoln.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_J._H._Boetcker

But very wise words, whoever said it.

If free medicine is a right, why not free food, apartments, clothing, and TV!!!

They're comin'! A chicken in every pot and a new stove to cook it on and new furniture to eat it on and....and....all paid for by the gebment! Free! Free!

Free housing, gas, cars, and... and...and...

Scary, isn't it?

Generally the more delays we see, the less chance that the bill will pass in its present form in both the House and Senate. Delays mean they’re having trouble finding enough votes to pass it.

I've been a FReeper for 5 years this week

Congrats.

Newbies like Aussenseiter, who has been here barely half a month need to chill for awhile and then slowly wade in. Else they will be continually flamed. But maybe they enjoy pain?

Let me steer all of you to a dictionary

We asked for *your* definition because the dictionary definition and how you seemed to use the word are at odds, that's all.

Causing fights and insulting other FReepers is not at all good form and causes speculation as to your motives for being here. We get a lot of trolls so we're a suspicious bunch. Since you're a newbie we want to give you a chance to prove yourself (well, some of us do ;0) but this forum doesn't have the time or interest for disruptions and pointless bickering.

Just some thoughts on fitting into the culture here, taken from the Rules of the Forum. Hopefully someone here has directed you to the home page that contains these and other Forum Rules:

Please enjoy our forum, but also please remember to use common courtesy when posting and refrain from posting personal attacks, profanity, vulgarity, threats, racial or religious bigotry, or any other materials offensive or otherwise inappropriate for a conservative family audience

Free Republic is a site dedicated to the concerns of traditional grassroots conservative activists. We're here to discuss and advance our conservative causes in a more or less liberal-free environment. We're not here to debate liberals. We do not want our pages filled with their arrogant, obnoxious, repugnant bile. Liberals, usurpers, and other assorted malcontents are considered unwelcome trolls on FR and their accounts and or posts will be summarily dismissed at the convenience of the site administrators.

Commies are everywhere tonight.

They are feeling randy because they killed and wounded over 40 patriots this week, and they are about to steal our healthcare and our earnings.

They have much to crow about.

All the statements from democrats in this debate are BS. This bill is really just an attempt to seize massive economic power from private health insurance companies, and upgrade unemployed democrat voters and illegal immigrants from Medicaid to full subsidized insurance policies. It’s a pure political power grab; all the speeches are intended to cover up this brazen attempted seizure of political and economic power.

1,000% correct. In the man-child's own words, he is TRANSFORMING America just like he promised - without amending the Constitution or having a single shot fired. It's over guys............the US Military should reconsider their oaths to uphold the Constitution since the Congresscritters don't seem to uphold their oaths.

LETS NATIONALIZE ALL LAWYERS AND LEGAL SERVICES!!

Part of me wants to yell YES but the other part of me figures that the left WANTS all the lawyers to be enslaved to the government position and beholden to the ruling party and Attorneys General like Holden.

That's a scary thought.
