"It really doesn't matter how President Obama divides the Afghan baby, how he splits the difference between McChrystal and Biden. Because the war has been lost,"
When you have the power to exterminate the entire population, such a statement is entirely discreditable and assinine.
Former Sen. Fred Thompson today intensified his party’s criticism of President Obama’s long deliberation over policy in Afghanistan, announcing that Obama’s delay signals that “the war has been lost” and that nothing the president now does will “make any difference.”
“It really doesn’t matter how President Obama divides the Afghan baby, how he splits the difference between McChrystal and Biden. Because the war has been lost,” Thompson said on his radio show today. “I say this because of one sad and simple fact. The president does not have the will and determination to do what’s necessary to win it. His heart’s not in it, and never has been. The Taliban knows it. Al Qaeda knows it. Our allies know it. And the American people know it.
“Our enemies are now emboldened and our friends are discouraged. We cannot prevail if the American people are not willing to make the sacrifices necessary for an extended effort. The case has not been made to them to justify this effort. The case can only be made by the president. This president is unable or unwilling to make that case,” Thompson said.”

Brave soldiers, doing their duty, mostly in small groups alone and unafraid are dying for a country ruled by a leader that wants them gone. It makes me want to cry.
Yes, well there isn’t much you can do when the “president” and those who voted for is him are as much the enemy as Osama bin Laden.
The media, Walter Cronkite in particular, convinced the country we were losing in Viet Nam when we weren’t. Yet we’re making the same mistakes we made then in Afghanistan now. Are we trying to win or trying to get out? Are our troops fighting with both hands tied behind their backs and dying for nothing? Wars are meant to fought by the military, not by politicians - and especially by a politician who never served in the military. At this point I wonder if we just shouldn’t leave because our Dear Leader will make no commitment. Not to win, hell not to even try to win. Why waste the lives of the greatest military the world has ever known if you won’t at least attempt to win?
I was around and in the military during the time of which you speak. What you’ve said is precisely why I’m disheartened. When you contrast our capability (google “the Warrior Song” and watch the video) with the reality of our sychopantic media steadfastly hawking our failure in lockstep to Obama’s indifference to our forces’ plight is just heartbreaking. Our leaders should be damned to hell for eternity.
I can have a 44 magnum in my hand and it is just a hunk of metal if I am paralyzed by fear.
We either stay there & spend more money that will bring us to our demise sooner or get out now & save the dollars & lives of these outstanding soldiers. There is no win. There seems to be no way we will fight these Muslims in our nation. This nation has been trashed economically, spiritually & morally. It’s government is one of the most corrupt. It’s time all get straight with the Creator.

AMEN!

>>It makes me want to cry.<<
.
What should make you want to cry is that we have a spineless Congress that supports this “leader” in his quest to destroy this country.
That said, I have to admit Zero has sent a terrible message to our enemies and is displaying a clear lack of resolve, which will make our military's job much tougher. If he refuses to give McChystal what he needs and puts Afghanistan on a Vietnam like timetable to withdraw, I agree, we've lost.
How would we know if we’ve won?
I was too young for Viet Nam but three of my cousins and my step-brother were there. They sure never thought we were losing. There was a real disconnect for me between the evening news telling us how we were getting the snot beat out of us and the best thing we could do would be to surrender and run and the things my family said about the war.
I just don’t understand how Obama needs so much time to make a decision. Every damn day you wait another of our brave soldiers loses their life. If you’re planning on cutting and running, then just say so and do it. But don’t leave those brave men and women out there to die while you play golf.
