Thousands come out in Tampa to greet Glenn Beck

A crowd that had to be several thousand strong came out to Borders bookstore on South Dale Mabry in Tampa this morning to meet and greet (quickly) conservative icon Glenn Beck.

The radio and cable television personality sandwiched Tampa in between two other Florida stops on Saturday. He began the day in Lee County, came (late) to Tampa, arriving at about 12:15 p.m., and then went to the Villages, where he made his much hyped announcement that he had been teasing his listeners and viewers about in recent days.

According to Orlando television station WOFL:

He also said he plans to start a country wide tour, dividing the nation into seven parts and conducting educational conventions. Beck says he will teach ethics, history, finance, community organizing and everything American’s need to know about how the government works.

At Tampa’s event, where the first person in line arrived at 6 a.m. for the 12 noon scheduled book signing, the crowd inside Borders erupted when he entered through the front door, accompanied by no less than half a dozen roadies wearing Arguing With Idiots Bookstore 2009 Tour jackets who cleared the entryway at the back of the store and set up his own podium, carried in by a dolly.

Virtually everyone in line had a copy of Arguing With Idiots, his latest NY Times best-seller.

IMG_0269Many in the crowd echoed the statements of a man who only wanted to be identified as Gary from Clearwater. He told CL that Beck’s outlook means, “he says things that are other people are afraid to say.” Gary said he liked Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, but “Beck goes a little farther, says a little more than even those guys ..they’re more traditional Republican conservative and he’s a little, well, he’s not like that.”

Gary continued, ” I think he opens people’s eyes to things, gives people the ability to go do some investigation their own and learn some things that maybe they weren’t even aware of……I think he’s helping people to go do some education on their own..”

You’d better change the headline to “Almost a Hundred Come Out to Tampa to Greet Glenn Beck” otherwise nobody in the MSM will believe it.

What do you want to bet we see that out of context in a MSM quote?

He’s probably in a hurry to get this done before Arianna Huffington-Puffington gets someone to take away his free speech rights as she proposed.

Where’s the BIRTH CERTIFICATE, Glenn? Outing Van Jones & Anita Dunn was nice, but why do you still refuse to discuss that topic?

Thanks, Star, for posting this. I read your other thread, too. I pray for ol’ Glenn! Hope he has good security detail! I worry for his safety.

He's doing more to educate the public about the destruction of our government than 99% of the Lame Stream Media.

If the birth certificate is such an issue for YOU, then YOU do something about it.

Why the heck do YOU need him to take action, or are you another couch-potato crybaby who expects other people to fight YOUR battles?

IMO, if/when ObamaCare is poised to pass, the BC will come to the surface.

It’s the conservative ‘nuclear option’. There’s got to be one Reagan or Bush I appointee out there still on a Federal bench that gives a sh*t about this country.

Wouldn't he be singing to the choir? I would hope most conservatives already know this stuff and those we are fighting against don't care. Unless we are willing to do the type of community organizing the left does (civil disobedience)this won't do much.

I guess I'll wait to hear the full story from him.

Beck is the hardest working conservative in the country, and we should all feel blessed that he has helped energize so many people. If you want him to do everything, that is the absolute opposite of what his philosophy is. I pray for him that he continues to have the energy, the inspiration, the vision that he has. I feel like such a slug compared to such a person! We should all be his supporters, even if we have issues at times. No one “gets the word out” like Beck!

To expound on Glenn's Thursday TV show regarding the unsustainable National Debt ...

THIS is the White House OMB's National Debt projection for Mid-FY2010 (dollar amounts in BILLIONS):
(Available for viewing at http://www.gpoaccess.gov/usbudget/fy10/pdf/10msr.pdf, on Page 61)

And THIS is One Trillion Dollars:

THIS is 12 Trillion Dollars, TODAY's debt carried on the national "credit card" (which is nearly the ENTIRE year's GDP):

In just 4 years, the National Debt will be 18.6 Trillion Dollars, and this is WITHOUT ObamaCare, Cap & Trade, Amnesty, etc:

And 6 years later, in 2019, the National Debt will be 24.5 Trillion Dollars:

And THIS is $40,000 — which is what YOU and every man, woman and child
MUST pay on TODAY's National Debt JUST to get the debt back down to ZERO:

This $40K will DOUBLE for EVERYONE in less than 10 years
— NOT accounting for inflation — which will again FURTHER increase YOUR debt.

If you're not engaged, you better be!

No need to get so negative towards me about it, I am simply asking a question to a person who has a much louder voice than I do. Besides, just the fact that I am bringing up the subject means that I AM doing something about it.

You just activated my "Leftist Lingo Detect-o-meter!"

Take a deep breath and wake up to the fact that the BC issue will not ever do anything to remove zero from office. Think beyond the first step of getting a ruling from a Judge.

Ultimately, The House the Senate would would have to act to remove him in spite of anything a Federal Judge could do. The BC issue is a total dead end and GB probably understands that!

I’ll gladly sign up and bring both kids with me. That’s the main point. Give a refresher course to those that are already in the know and give the next generation an education they can’t (or won’t) get in the public schools.

And the people that attend and take notes can share their new-found knowledge with friends, neighbors, family, etc.

I like Beck’s idea.

Many people say “But I’m just one person. What can I do?” This is one of the things any ‘one person’ can do. Attend Beck’s educational convention and spread the word.

Thanks for the visual representation. If a person was told that they could have a trillion dollars only if they could carry it a mile and partial success didn’t count, I think it would take many years to move the money.

And let us all remember, the graphics were assuming $100 bills. Make it into $20 bills (what most of us carry around when we have pocket money) and the size is multiplied five-fold.

Yes, and if you look at the demographic trends, the
information needs to be spread to minority groups, who will
one day become majority groups.

I HATE it when he says that the Republicans are equally as bad as the dems. Many of them may not be great by any means but they don't begin to threaten the very fiber of our freedoms like the commie, elitist, cold hearted murdering, power grabbing, embezzlers and fascist that the dems are. The Republicans have been trying to hold the line on them and many deserve credit he is NOT giving them. Elections are lost by his kind of rhetoric. People who would vote Republican get demoralized and stay home or vote for an independent who can't win.
If he knows what he is doing and will come out for the real Conservatives when it is vital that is one thing. Too many like Savage demoralize the ranks and then at the last minute when it is too late all of a sudden they say that they will hold their nose and vote Republican. We can't have this or our Country will be lost.

"I HATE it when he says that the Republicans are equally as bad as the dems."...................

It's not true!!!! I am not a Republican but a Conservative. We need to know what we are doing and not just go by our emotions. If we throw all the Republicans under the bus we will just get Obama. Is that what you want??? To prove a point, destroy our Country?

There is a huge and I mean huge difference between most Republicans and Obama and ilk. Most Republicans are not consciously and systematically doing everything possible in their power to destroy the USA.

I have wanted a third party for a long time but this may not be that time. It may be possible that lots of Republicans have woke up and need to wake up some more. That may be our job now, to help the Republicans that will be true Conservatives and make sure that the ones that won't are out. If new, fresh, real Conservatives are willing to run we need to support them with everything we have.

Unless a third party can actually get voted in this is not the time to seal Pelosy and Obama’s hold on our Country until the unforeseeable future. This may be our last chance to save our Country and we need to do what is right and what will work.

Dear Folks,

Yes, I did snap. Personal reason, so I'm sorry about it.

For me, the whole point of what Glen is trying to do is to prompt other to take action. Glen didn't start out as a voice that millions listened to; he started out like us, regular folks, and worked his way to that spot.

We can, too!

I've seen it work within my own community, and spent countless hours these last two years doing battle against an industry that typically runs roughshod over folks. Using the truth, we amassed a huge coalition of people in a relatively short period of time and stopped this industry in its tracks.

I hold the highest esteem for those who fought along with us, but there were hundreds of people that sat on the sidelines, crying and complaining that we didn't do enough -when they chose not to do ANYTHING to change their situation.

Be creative. Be pro-active. This Republic of ours can be saved, but only if people of good character ACT.

What can one person do? A LOT! Poland didn't become a free country because the leaders broke away; it was one Polish worker, standing up to the Communist machine, that started the Solidarity Movement and made freedom possible.

In short, don't look to Glen - look to yourselves!

"There is a huge and I mean huge difference between most Republicans and Obama and ilk."

Yep HUGH difference, Obama wants to subvert the Constitution all at once, Republicans want to do it a little at a time.

HUGH difference...

(I'm series...)

Republicans are just making noise right now. When they had control they still kept spending and spending and spending and they kept chipping away at individual freedom. They could have chenged the automatic increases in all the social programs but they didn't. They could've rolled back some of the unconstitutional Gun Control but they didn't, they could have NOT passed some of the more ridiculous parts of the Homeland Security legislation but they didn't, they could have NOT passed another HUGH entitlement program but they didn't and now it will NEVER go away.

I could go on and on of all of the things they did and didn't do that are in direct opposition to what the Founding Fathers laid out in the Constitution but its Common knowledge especially on this site. We chose to "rah rah" our team for eight years and look the other way when they wiped their behinds with the Founding Documents.

We are in the middle of a paradigm shift. The "Same Ole Same Ole" ain't going to work anymore. The RNC backed a liberal Republican over a clear Conservative and the Lib Repub dropped out and Endorsed the Democrat. "THAT" in a nutshell should tell you how far off base the RNC is AND anyone who still follows those idiots.

When I see the RNC cleansed of these clueless Idiots and Republicans like Snowe and McCain and the other RINOs relegated to backseat status (instead of Party leaders) THEN I will back the party again. However until that happens count me out.
